32.4 mpg
. Thats effin nuts man. I thought 25 on the highway with the a/c on was good. My car turns about 5,000 rpm at 80 mph by the way.
Yes the stock tach is a "tad" bit off.

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering
Yeah, I know it's nuts, but I got it under ideal conditions: 55-60 mph because of all the darn deer, cool, dense night air, no a/c, constant speed for a long way, standard shift car, stock little 305. I need to weigh the car. Before these headers I got about the same mileage as you with the a/c on, same speed. I don't want to get into too much of a mileage competition here lest 4-bangers outnumber V8s at the meets, but the world should know that when they crush a 3rdgen they're losing a really great car.

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering
all photoshoot pics have been mailed. pleaes let me know if you don't get yours
by the way, the capitol looked MUCH smaller in the actual photos than in the test shots we did months earlier. much have been the kind of lens the photographer used. If you would like me to tweak your photo like I did mine, let me know and I'll do it, no problem

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering
I was wondering about that when I saw my pics. Almost struck me as the pics were from a different location/further out.
You can tweak mine & any body/paint flaws you want! LOL

I think all of the photoshoot pics have been sent out. let me know if you didn't get yours. If you want the "capitol edit", let me know.
I should have the tweaked pics by the time I get back next week, so I'll work on getting out the new pics then.

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering
I got the edited pics from PJ on Saturday night. I noticed the same thing with the capitol. When I took the test shot, I used my digital camera. Not sure if that would make a difference but I did not alter my shot whatsoever, I don't know how to edit pics.

no worries, it just takes a couple minutes each pic to do that edit. I migjht have some down time this weekend I can work on them, and when I return home the middle of next week, I'll resend the pictures out to everyone
thank you RJ, and tell PJ we appreciate him!

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering
For future reference, if you want the background objects to look larger, you need to take the photo with a longer focal length lens. The first photo of 58Mark's car looks like it was taken with a moderately wide angle lens or zoom setting. Here's link that shows the effect very well, notice how the barn in the background gets larger as the focal length increases.

I guess we were thinking so much about the cars, we forgot to stress the background. fortunatly photoshop can solve so many problems

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering
Thanks again to those who made this show happen. I look foward to next year! Also, thanks to everyone for being patient as we waited for my demon bird to start, which of course it did right after the group shots.
I took it home and did some diagnostics, it was the starter solenoid. Unfortunatly this problem began within a month of getting the alarm, so I always suspected that instead. Had I known for sure it was the solenoid at the show, I would have borrowed a tool from someone and given it a good "bang". New starter assembly has been installed for a few days and it starts every time now, no matter how hot.

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering
No, the car has been painted. I'm pretty sure, based on the front facia not lining up, that it was wrecked once upon a time. Thanks for the compliments.
As for the ram air, I had recently began installing it before this show, I still had 1 weld left to make. On the way up to Austin my speedometer found its way to 140mph, and my Ram air found its weak link. The sheet metal aluminum let go of a Rivet. So the radiator scoop had let go and was nearly touching the ground. I have allready remade it stronger, and very soon I am going to the track to test that ram air vs stock vs a k&n throttle body filter. At that point I will make a post all about how I did it as well as track tests. I know many bird owners who want some kind of "fix" for their intake setup. I sure hope after all the work it took to make it, that its better than a simple $40 dollar K&N. The butt meter thinks so, but the butt meter also lies.
Here is a teaser pic:
