Finally moved to AZ! :)
Finally moved to AZ! :)
As some of you might know I posted a while ago because I might be moving to AZ. Well I finally did. I just moved here 2 days ago and I'm starting on monday with Impact Auto Body here in Mesa. I live around the University/Giblert cross section, (I think anyways
) I only have access to the net right now at the library and it will probably be that way for some time. Unfortunately I had to leave my camaro back home
Its pretty much just a shell right now getting ready for a complete redo, so when I get some more money I will be bringing it down here. I love working on cars so if any needs any help with something, I will TRY to help you out
. Otherwise I will probably sit around and be bored
Brandon
I might be on azfba soon, just depends on when I can scrape some money together.

And get used to sitting around. Too hot in the summer to even step outside let alone work outside. Re: Re: Finally moved to AZ! :)

And you may think AZ is boring but I can tell you there is far far more to do here than there was in kansas in my little ole town of 25000 people. BTW - For the person wondering thats where I'm from, Kansas. Dodge City to be exact. TGO Supporter

Phoenix isn't really boring, its just the heat takes alot of the fun out of outdoor activities, not to mention crack every plastic panel in a car and turn the paint white
You might want to check out the Champlin Fighter Museum. They have an indoor display of WWI and WWII fighter planes, plus a huge collection of machine guns.

91305z - I have been looking for a job for 6 months so I know the feeling
Keep looking though, its tough times right now. Good luck.
Ominous - I'm just doing basics right now. Taking apart the wrecked cars, putting them back together, any mechanical/suspension work needing to be done. Although I did learn body/paint at school I imagine it will be awhile before I move up to any of those positions as alot of the employees have been there for some time.
Thanks for the suggestions on the museums. And like I said I don't think AZ is boring at all. Live in KS for a year and then see what you think!
I love it here actually, much much nicer than Kansas. Any other suggestions for cool places to visit?

body work is great. im going to AAI right now , but i do body work on the side, its easy stuff, alot of fun in my opinion, what body school did you go to?oh and welcome to az..
Ominous - Kansas isn't too horrible bad. I've seen worse. Eastern kansas is much much better than the west side. I've lived there for about 20 years not though so its time to get away
CamaroStud - Yeah body work is fun, working on cars in general is fun IMO! The guy above me who has worked there for 8 months hasn't even done any body work yet! All he has done is tear down cars/put them back together type thing as its a pretty big shop and we work on about 60-70+ cars at all times. So it will probably be quite some time before I get back into the body work thing.
I went to school in wyoming at wyotech. Sometimes I'm glad I went othertimes it just seems like it wasn't worth it. I'm glad overall that I went though. While I was there I took collision/refinishing and a trim/upholstery class which I never would have learned otherwise. I wanted to get into Trim/Upholstery side because I really enjoy that but this came along first and looks promising so I went with it. I may save up some money and get some supplies and start a small upholstery business on the side. So if anybody needs your seats recovered maybe I can help you out in the future

hmmm, what kinda upholstery work do you do? thats interesting, lol,im sick of the vato zone seat covers,lol...
Hit the WWW at the bottom of my post and it will take you to my cardomain page. The first page is pictures of my interior, it has a few before and after shots. I also dyed my plastic panels black but they didn't turn out, dunno why, so I have to do them over again. And I'm going to recarpet them with some extra I had ACC send me of the carpet I put in there. My seats I just did pretty basic, same with the door panels, very basic, just because likes how I like it. Something that wasn't stock but you wouldn't really notice wasn't. I did 2 1/2" horizontal pleats or strips, whatever you want to call them. I could probably do most about anything you wanted though. The seats in my car are the very first set of buckets seats I did so they have a few very minor problems here and there but I've learned from my mistakes
And its nothing that most people would notice unless pointed out or unless your an upholsterer.
I think the seats would look better if done in a leather like vinyl, I just like the looks of a slick vinyl seat better I guess, but I decided long ago that I didn't want it. I don't like the hot/cold qualities. I'm especially glad that I used cloth now that I've moved to AZ!

Welcome to the valley! Yeah, it's not boring here, especially with all the night life (all we can stomach without experiancing heat stroke) generated from ASU. Question, would you be interested in doing a small custom apholstery job? I want to have my front seats done in the same color they are now, but I want chevy logos in the headrests. (That and they have a few tears in them) If you click on my WWW you can see what they look like now. Not in bad shape, but I still want them redone. Thanks if you have some feedback.
