I passed emissions!

Hey some of you guys know that I bought a v6 firebird and swapped my V8/700R4 setup into it. One good thing about the V6 is that It DIDN'T come with an A.I.R system. So everytime I have emissions I dont have to go throught the hassle of hooking my airpump and all that BS back up. First try today I got it to pass. They had to take out a few books and look over my car due to it not having the stock motor but after a few minutes they said I was good to go. Only thing I really had to due was mess with the mixture screws and back the timing off a bit for it to pass. What a great day, I'm so happy!

They weren't small books either. I guess it listed like every engine code and what cars had what in them. Stuff like that. I held up the emissions line for about 10 minutes. How do you not know te motor size? You didnt ask when you bought it? Just look at the 8th digit in the vin number and post it and one of us will be able to tell ya.

So its carb right now? Also who the hell would take a V8 out and drop a 6 in it? Amber you can look on the back of the block and it will either say GM 5.0 or GM 5.7. Should be right behind the passenger head.

it should still say. If its not a GM motor then who knows what. Just make sure it doesnt have the distributor in the FRONT. IF so then your car has REAL problems.

I was just making a joke because Ford motors have their distributors in the front. So I was saying it would be a bad thing if someone stuck a ford motor in there.

Does *your* head fit between the block and the firewall? Didn't think so.

That might just be the Gm part number for that intake manifold or something? Not quite sure.

That's what I think it is. Does anyone know the easiest way to figure out how big my engine is? Keep in mind it is not the stock engine.

Whoa! and they didn't notice the discrepancy between the sticker that says V6 and the fact that you have a V8 in there?

dont know whats cars came with V6 w/o AIR, but every V6 camaro i have seen in the junkyards that i've been to dont have the AIR injection manifolds. just an EGR. and the wise thing to do or so i've been told is to remove the cowl tags, dont give the testers any hints as to whats in the engine bay they'll see a V8 in a V6 car but if they see the egr smog routing tag thats making it ez for them. plus if they give $**T about it you could just, say i bought the car like this i didnt know....
