Power Window Tension Spring
Ok today i started replacing my power window motor on the passanger side. after drilling out the last rivet the window came down and the tension spring came out of its place. i try for hours to put the tension spring back on no luck. so i got tired and left that alone. i got the new motor on and ready to go. motor goes up and down fine. but my concern is this tension spring that i have in my trunk. how would i put it back. will it affect my motors life span. can anyone help out with this... i really appreciate it. Thanks

I never put the one back in the drivers side of my 92 GTA and it has been working great for atleast 4 years now...And on top of that it is faster than the passenger side that still has the spring...Maybe its just a fluke but no problems here

I never did get it back in my passenger side either. For the driver's side I replaced the window by drilling holes in the door right where the rivets are that hold in the motor. Then drilled out the motor rivets and the motor fell out without taking out the actuator. Do a search on the interior board if you need to do the other. Someone posted a template for drilling the holes needed. It was a breeze.
And I would recommend to anyone who needs to do this to leave the actuator in and do it with the template.

It's definitely tricky to get the spring back on but it can be done with an hour of swearing and cutting your hands up
. If it starts giving you problems and you have to get it back in, let me know and I'll see if I can come help ya.

i got mine back in using a table vice and a long prybar.. a pain in the ***.. however, the window is still slower than the driver side, and i don't know why... maybe it needs some lube.. it just seems like the motor isn't fast or powerful enough.
