Problems with Junkyards????
Hey people hows it going?
I have a 91 RS that I'm currently working on at the moment. You know the basic body work interior/exterior ect. Theres parts that I need so I made some calls to the local Junkyards here in Tucson, OMG....is it just me or are these dogs in a bad mood 24/7? Makes me want to go kick a cat, j/k. I call them as kind as I can be and then next thing you know it I feel like driving over there and
...well I'm sure you know the rest...
Either way do any of you know a good place to check out? I'm not expecting to be treated like royalty and all but come on no need to be treaded like a d***
Thanks for your help....

Re: Problems with Junkyards????
Depends on what you are looking for. There are a lot of good parts out there, but the people that work at these yards don't have a clue what they have there or what is good in them. In most cases, you will find the part that you need in a car and the part being worse than the one you currently have. Most of us on here probably have good parts or have access to getting you the part. If you can make an occasional trip up here to Phoenix, we might be able to help you out and get you the quality parts you are looking for.

Re: Problems with Junkyards????
dont we have a single pullapart here in tucson??? usually when i need crap i go to Parts 4 Less, they have a $40-something minimum though, but its better than godforsaken Beep Beep.
Here's somewhere to avoid, ACS parts. The dude never puts a shirt on and just keeps going on about having to crush cars. Worst of all - goats. The yard raises goats. There's goat $h1t everywhere and they eat the interiors.
Tucson has the worst junkyards ever. I'd like to go to the ones like you'd see in old school episodes of knight rider.

I guess phoenix is just lucky... Beep Beep auto parts is still in business? I used to live in Tucson, and there arent very many good parts yards. I would think there would be at least one good pick-n-pull or something like that up there...

Re: Problems with Junkyards????
lol michigan is like the car kingdom to begin with i wish i saw more cars around here in the yards, except the only positive side is az has that natural preservation ability with the lack of humidity and rain lol
I think the best deal/find ive ever gotten is my front clip w/ the aero GFX i got for $20 i guess the car was delivered that morning and i wasnt even there to get parts for my thirdgen, we needed a seatbelt for my friends truck and as soon as i saw it my jaw dropped. I pulled it off and took it up front and they told me $20 and i was suprised, apparently they dont know the value of their stuff haha

Re: Problems with Junkyards????
There is ONE pick-n-pull in Tucson, and unless you're looking for something pre-82, they probably don't have it. The cars are also kept until they're GONE, which means inventory doesn't move very fast. It's on El Camino de la Tierra heading south from Ina. Big sign, just up the road from Chuck's Trucks (good yard, has a lot more than trucks). All of the other pick-and-pulls shut down their you-pull-it service due to insurance (or some moron killing himself and suing and probably winning. >.<).
Best (Love's?) is good down off of Illinois St on Contractor's Way, usually have a few thirdgens, but never with good interior. To get the parts selection I wanted I drove up to Phoenix and went to a pick-and-pull.
