Accel Superram

Has anyone here in the Phoenix area ever done an Accel Superram install? I have owned one for about 10 years and never got around to installing it. I know it can be a bear to install but apparently once you do it and understand how its supposed to go together it's not so bad.

I am thinking about taking on this project and was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining in on the install. Will probably just do the upper intake. I generally enjoy working on projects with other people then just by myself.
Thanks Brian

I guess that is a little far away. If you have some specific tips and pics that would be great. I going to pm you my email address. If you have a chance and can email some pics of the install that would be really great!!

I would be willing to lend a hand. I am not very knowledgeable, but I do what I can like rad, water pump, etc. Downside is I have no idea about the superram, but the upside is I'm close and willing. Let me know.

That sounds good! Does not matter if you do not have any experience with it. I will be doing most of the wrenching and hopefully we will both learn something in the process.

Copchaser already sent me some good instructions and tips and I may broadcast the install with my mobile web cam for all to see.

Re: Accel Superram

I always use quite a bit of RTV on the runner gaskets... Superram's are known for having vacuum leaks around the runners. I have installed mine prob around 4 times now... All I can say is I ended buying a few small tools to make the install easier/faster. Use bolts for under the plenum (along with a ratcheting wrench). The allen head ones suck!

Re: Accel Superram

I worked on one several years ago, but would be willing to lend a hand. When are you planning on swapping it out?

Re: Accel Superram

they are not the pain that every one says they are.. you just need to know how to install them.

i have been running the super ram for over 19 years
on a few diff engs.

can tell you that it takes alot more time to install then any other.

only 2 screws are a hard get to..(2 on ea side)
and remember to run the kick down under the top box.

never had a leak with mine or others.
use a small bit of RTV (just enof to cover the gaskets)color
i use ultra blue. use rubber gloves to apply it to the gaskets

done right. you will not see the RTV. and it will not Leak

Thanks Tim, I want to try get it done sometime this month. I have Saturday 6/4/11 open right now and I am thinking of starting everything Friday night and working on it all day Sat. Are you going to be around?

Sunday I am going to help birdtojag (Chris) with his car.
