Steering wheel replacement

Any of you guys ever replaced the late "air-bag" wheel in favor of a real steering wheel like a Momo or something else?

I'm wondering if I have to do something so I don't get a code or ?. I do know that I'll end up having to make sure I don't short a lead or something like that.

Info anyone?

thanks

Barry F

I believe the tech articles section has something on exactly that... Whatever you do be very careful, airbag wheels can 'splode in your face if handled incorrectly.

Basically what I've found is that there is no manufacturer that has a "replacement" for an airbag equiped vehicle. Just those stupid clip on beauty rings. YUCK!

in our case I think all the steering columns/shafts are the same for the 3G's. so with that I looked for 89 models and found GT, Momo, Spearco, and a few others that are more for looks (LeCarra, Billet spec, etc)

Here is the Grants that I've looked at.

tell me what you think.
these all use a billet black column adapter

I'm getting the pics of the Momo's too.

I installed one of the Grant Corsa GT Style Wheels on my IROC, and I really like it! It is two-tone with gray/black, great feel and makes the car even more fun to the drive I would really like to install the same wheel in my RS red/bacl two-tone since the interior is red

Corsa GT is the one I posted under LAST ONE.

Nice wheel, leather but not too keen on the design.

I REALLY like the blk/grey one I posted first but it is vinyl not leather.

Here's the wheel I got: I love the way I still get a pretty decent diameter wheel but have more legroom for entering /exiting the car.

i have...

i have the first one (picture) that you posted, i like it a lot and have had it for a very long time, no signs of wear except for a couple spots on top where i hold on (screw 10 and 2...how are you supposed to shift...)i also have the quick release...and let me tell you i take the steering wheel off in one secong every night and if anyone ever tried to steal my car they would have an interesting time not to mention they would get very far if they even got out of the parking lot, heh heeh heh.

I think that one falls into the $250 range and then you have the adapter (75) and the Horn button (50).

So about $375.

too much for me. I'd rather do the $200 and drop $175 into go fast/handle better parts? Just my opinion.
