Damn it, and I just figured it out by an email sent on the SCFB list. I thought I was good at figuring thing out.
Nice, how'd you accuire it (If I may ask, everyone has a story to tell)? Tell us more (specs and plans).

Bret... Ummmmmmm, too much
I paid I figure about 1k-1500 too much for the car, as a guess. Theres no bluebook on 89 verts, so its kind of an open game. Just FYI the nice ones (this one needs help) go for 10k up. Seen them go as high as 15k.
It was for sale on Ebay, didnt meet the reserve which was my intent... So I went down to Texas where it was at and checked it out. Seemed ok except some minor cosmetic details. I can take care of those.
1989 GTA
350
Auto
leather
power seats
steering wheel radio stuff (standard I understand)
dual cats
aluminum driveshaft
a real ASC converted car, sticker and manual included. The manual is probably worth its weight in gold, IMO.
61k miles
Odd options:
T-tops
Cargo security cover
Rear defroster
Plans:
Recover seats (fronts thrashed)
shifter handle (thrashed)
Steering wheel.... maybe... leather cover missing, looks ok.
carpet
sunvisors
Couple of minor non-convertible specific interior trim items
Rear top release (from GM, I need it all, $75 I can do that)
minor bodywork
repaint
SFC's
adjustable fan switch (maybe)
mess with chip (maybe not do the fan switch)
Other than that? Nuffin. Drive it.
I forgot the MOST important thing. Remove GTA fender emblems from their currently incorrect location. Blech.

Thanks guys!
2nd day I've had it, I still have a smile on my face. It needs some work (some that I am not looking forward to... but you gotta fix stupid mistakes by other people when you get a used car) and some parts that are probably gonna be hard to find, but I dont care. I love it.
It needs SFC's badly though, this thing gets down and boogies, and I can just feel the body of the car complaining through the seat when I'm on the throttle. Would smack my TA right upside the head if I raced it, no doubt.
Tonight I am gonna clean it up, wax it (might be a waste of time and effort... LOL ) and then tomorrow take some more pics of it. It'll probably be a couple years before I get it 'nice', but in the meantime it still looks pretty good anyway, especially top down.
<------------ Still wired. :lala:
Thanks to those who kept the 'secret'

Zaino... lol
Mother's California Gold. Its a carnuba based wax.
It'll probably need steps, like start with 3M Finesse-It III to remove all the scratches it has in the paint, followed by some clay bar action if needed, then the wax, which the one I'll use is a cleaner wax. The paint needs alot of help. Basically, I'll be polishing a turd, but it should come out ok.
I *might* repaint a couple pieces. They are pretty bad and I think waxing them would be a waste of time and effort. Besides, I have the right color paint and they are fairly small parts. Wouldnt take but a few hours to do it.

I just recently saw one of the Meguiar's Techs. demonstrating how revive old paint. He recommended 1) washing with a good car soap, 2) clay bar to remove the tough surface stuff, 3) use a "polish" (there is a difference) to get the deep stuff out and return the shine, 4) THEN apply wax to protect the finish.
I had never thought about it this way, but as the tech explained, wax is used as a protectant – not really to put a shine on the paint. You want to use a polish first to get it gleaming.
Or you can do what I did, find a good detailer and let them do it! Only cost me $90 and the GTA was looking pretty slick.

Step 2: Use 3M Finesse It (its a polish, not a wax)
Step 3: Ponder breaking out the sandpaper.
Step 4: Go inside, have a beer.
Paint fixup on hold, for now.

One Convetible in and one out.
Russ suggested above that we were getting enough Convertibles here to start a 3rd Gen Convertible club. Well, I'm sad to say that I sold my 1991 TA Convertible last Tuesday for $6,000.00. Hopefully when my $$$ situation improves I can get another 3rd gen. Until then I guess I'm out of the loop. - Bruce
