Call me a purist. I don't care much for the body kits on the late model El Caminos. I'm especially not fond of the Monte Carlo SS nose conversion, which somehow gets labeled as being an El Camino SS. To my knowlwedge, GM never produced these and they were strictly dealership or after market conversions. Choo Choo Customs made the kit popular.

I still love the good ole FACTORY SS with the simple front spoiler that matches the car. My '84 had all the top factory options minus the spoiler - 305 V8, 4 bbl carb, full power, gauge package and cloth interior. To set it apart from the crowd I popped on a set of 15x8" 60's era Corvette Rally wheels and painted the centers to match the car.

It looked sweet and that's probably why it got stolen.

Look closely

That is actually a Camaro front end and it even says IROC on the door!

I'm glad you said that tongue in cheek. Cuz that is actually an aftermarket fiberglass kit supplied by Lauren Engineering. http://www.laureneng.com/flash/page08.html

Some of the kits are a bit over the top. But I like the looks of the ones that do closely resemble a Camaro nose grafted to the front. I don't like the 91/92 GFX treatment that they try to stick on some of them.

Hi Don!
I agree with you! Wow! I like it! Heck, I kinda like the streched version posted too!
Everybody personalizes their car somewhat. I would notice that car first!
I think it gives the car a more aggressive look.

Later,

George

I'm well aware the pic shows an IROC conversion. I just also wanted to reference the more common Monte Carlo SS front end most people use. Don, I thought you were an Elky enthusiast.
