E-bay question....(N3G)

Sorry its not 3rd gen related but Im sure some of you could answer my questions...

Ive never done this whole E-bay thing...
Im about to sell the original rims off my dads '93 Bonneville and the BBS rims off his '85 BMW 635 CSI and the front and rear bumpers from it that we have up in the garage, and I was wondering how the hell am I going to ship these??? Not somthing I can just box up and take to the local "mail N more" and have weighed and shipped! I plan on having the buyer pay for it but how do I go about sending it out? And how does E-bay charge for selling items?

Thanks in advance!

You ship by UPS and try reading the E=bay help section on how to sell and all the other info you will need to know. Not very complicated.

smart ***

And yes it is complicated when you feel like you've been hit by a mac truck or 2 for the past week(ie very sick) and your PMSing and just to make your day a little rosier you get a call from a close friend that one of your good childhood friends just died today at the young age of 19...yeah I dont feel like reading pages of BS when my head feels like a subwoofer and my eyes are burning from staring at this comp. screen!

Hope everyone is having a better day than me! :lala:

Find a rim shop in the area that might have some wheel boxes they will give you.

You can ship them through UPS. The buyer should pay the shipping, so that should not be an issue.

The bumpers and such may have to either go UPS oversized or ship by Truck on a pallet.

Thanks guys...I read all I could in the help section and I have a good idea of costs but it does get a bit confusing(or it could just be all the vitamins and meds Im on right now ) I think I might be able to get rim boxes(our Racecar needs 4 new wheels after our final race incident )

CHILL! Damn-the smart *** comment was me just playing...glad theres one more A-hole to brighten my day

I wanted comments from those who have actually done this before...what E-bay says compared to what really goes down could be 2 different things, just doing my research like a smart consumer/seller(sorry I come from a engineering family, you should see what it takes to buy/sell a fridg, Cd player, car, etc... months of research, online searching, local ad seaching, reading reviews, pricing everywhere that may sell it...fun stuff but we always get the best deal so its worth it)

I bet I'm having about as bad of a day, I won't go into it though..

Ebay charges a certain fee for starting the bid and setting a reserve, if you start at $1 it costs like a quarter, starting at $50 might cost $1.25 or something (I am making this up, havent sold on ebay in a year or so). And then at the end of the auction ebay charges a certain % of what the item ended at. Like maybe $3.00 out of 100, and it's a progressive fee. You can also do buy it now auctions where someone can instantly purchase the item for whatever price you want, rather than waiting for the auction to end. This probably costs something like a dollar extra now.

As far as shipping, you want to make sure to put "buy pays shipping" and give a high-estimate price. You don't know exactly how much it will cost until you know where they live and what kind of shipping/insurance they want. You can always refund their money if it costs too little, but if they don't give you enough you don't want to be left paying the extra.

For the shipping, as mentioned before be sure to state "Buyer Pays For All Shipping" on your ad(s).

You don't have to estimate a shipping fee when you start the auction. Simply state that the item(s) will be shipped via UPS and charges will be determined after auction ends based on buyer's address. Also mention that the buyer will be e-mailed final costs and shippng fees.

Lon could probably offer some good advice since he sells thru eBay quite a bit and ships all over the country. Tom *** at House of Camaro would be a good source for info. as well.

Ebay's fees

Insertion Fees The Insertion Fee is based on the starting price for your item. It is a non-refundable .
Reserve Price When you list a Reserve Price Auction, you will also be charged a Reserve Price Auction Fee, which is also based upon the reserve price. Reserve Price Auction Fees are fully refundable. At the end of the auction, if your item sells, the Reserve Price Auction Fee is refunded to your account.

Starting Price or Reserve Price Insertion Fees
$0.01 - $9.99 ------> $0.30
$10.00 - $24.99 ------->$0.55
$25.00 - $49.99 --------->$1.10
$50.00 - $199.99-------->$2.20
$200.00 and up---------->$3.30.

First picture is free then Each additional Picture is $0.15 .

Final Value Fees When your listing ends, you will be charged a Final Value Fee based on the final sale price (or "final value") of your item.

Final Value Fee
$0 - $25 -------->5.25% of the closing value
$25 - $1,000------->5.25% of the initial $25 ($1.31),
plus 2.75% of the remaining closing value balance ($25.01 to $1,000).
You will not be charged a Transaction Services Fee if
1-there were no bids on your item
2-there were no bids that met the reserve price on your reserve price auction

Good luck
