All of the above "awesome"
He took off the front and rear, painted them seperate, took off the mirrors to do them, painted the door jams, under the hood, the door handles, bottom of the hood and the cowl he even polished the wheels and blacked the tires.
I am more than impressed.

James,

How did Hawaii go?

With the 190cc AFR's, [Intake-type] and a 4/7 swap cam that should be good for close to 400rwhp or so at least with a 6 speed.

I have two different cam's that I am thinking of for your motor. I am going to check some valve lengths in the shop to see if the second cam/spring setup will work.
I won't be ready untill spring......

what what where the logistics of the project. Did you drive it down? trailer it down? How far into M was it?

My car is going to be ready Friday afternoon. Alex (82FirebirdTA) and I are going down on Monday. He is taking his Firebird down for paint, and I'm going to give him a ride back. The price I was quoted was $1350.00. That is for two stage paint, three coats color and three coats clear with all of the body work. A single stage job is about 1/2 that price. Mine was a bit higher than Don's because they had to take mine down to bare metal.

Wow the paint looks awesome in person. Metallic flake with glitter accents isn't for me but it certainly does look good with the wet look. Plus they threw in a FREE tuck and roll interrior package in red velvet.

Thats scary, I hope you guys are getting Mexican Insurance and the car valued before you cross the border. Hell of a price, but too risky in my book- I have too much under the car to loose it.

I just bought a new DeVilbiss kit- gravity feed HV/LP for my upcoming projects. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2486791828

P.s.I have Ratfink on the Vette- "Big Daddy" Roth pinstriped it for us about 12 years ago. Friend of a friend at that time.

I already checked, the standard American policy covers you up to 40 miles inside Mexico. We are only going 1/4 mile into Mexico.

I guess I should have mentioned, this fellow had a shop here in
Ca. for 20 years and his painter has been with him for 11 years.
He just got tired of the AQMD and moved south where he can do things right.

Don,

Do you have to sit there in border traffic for a couple of hours before going through? Just wondering.

Also, did he remove the GFX when he painted the body? What about the rubber side deflectors at the bottom? In the picture, it looks like they have white paint on them or something. Could be glare in the photo, but I just want to make sure. Thanks.

Getting there is no problem, if you time it right when you leave, (coming home) it takes a short time to get through the check point. We left here at 8:00 am and that way we were going thru at about 11:00 am (coming back) and it only took 15 min. to get thru. Leave at the wrong time and you could be in line to get out for and hour or more. The guy just looked the car over and asked me what business I had down there and I told him I just had some body work done, he said "ok, go on thru".

Those bottom skirts were already white.
He didn't remove the GFX, but he did remove the front and rear bumper covers and paint them seperate.
