Stupid bandwith issues.

Very nice! So I guess we won't be racing the trucks ... until I get my Crew Cab Duramax?

We can race them now, I should be able to make it interesting with the Hemi! Rather than with the Ram with the 37" tires!

Compared to the lifted Ram this will be a gas saver! lol

We figured we will still need a truck especially thing things for the house and such so we started to look for quad cab trucks, and this turned out to be a good deal

I'll run 'ya. No hemi, just 488 ci. I wonder if I should leave the 9-bolt and 700R4 I picked up at the PAP in the bed for traction?

Some mods planned for the near future, mostly cosmetic as this is the Wife's new 'car' though I have looked into a CAI and an exhaust at least

Yup, as well as picking up parts, things for the house, and believe it or not we definitely wanted the quad cab to make it easier to put a baby seat into - after all we did want to think of our friends

As long as mpg isn't a factor in deciding the winner! Too bad they won't let us drag race pulling a vehicle on a flatbed.

Trucks are for towing and going off-road, not for racing. But I do like the Craftsman Truck Series...

Trucks at Fontana take spots away from "real" race cars.

Here's where we disagree. Hmm, lets see, according to CA Dragway's web site: Vehicle must have current vehicle registration; license and a valid proof of insurance. Notice how they say "vehicle" not "car".

They actually keep the "Real" race cars away from the SLD event races:
10-Second Rule: There is a 10-second flat ET rule. No cars quicker than 10 seconds will be allowed. (If you need an NHRA Competition License to drive your car at an NHRA Drag Strip, it is too quick for California Dragway during a Street Legal event).

Thanks

I have to get started on a couple modifications that Donna wants kind of funny to see her all anxious to get the thing looking the way she wants

Honestly though I am a bit curious what this truck would do in the quarter, not sure if it's just because of its size but it seems to pick up speed very quickly

Time to redo the 428 and drop it back into the F250 XLT Camper Special.

It upset a lot of mustang owners in the 80's. With new alum heads and ...... humm, time to do research.

Careful, during the 70's and 80's I spent a lot on time on Irvine ranch and other ranches down here, and I took a 1 wheel drive where the other employees were scared to take a 4 wheel drive.

Well I have to change the engine anyway, so anybody that has space, I'm a willing participant if the engine gets changed

My driveway is a little full right now — Caddy in the garage, truck and GTA in the driveway, plus my Jet Ski, trailer and a bunch of other junk taking up space in the garage.

Now that I actually have some time on weekends again, cleaning the garage is on the "To Do" list.

If you need another pair of hands to help you swap engines in your Blazer one weekend, let me know.

Thanks Brett .... I can always use the help. Once I have the place to actually take everything apart, I'm sure you will enjoy the simple, uncomplicated engine compartment of the 70's ....

Ken,
I am really impressed with the roominess of the cars. I took the wife down and we test drove a Hemi on Wed. and then rented the above V6 (The pictured one is actually a 300 Touring- 3.5L 250hp V6). I could not find anyone that rents V8 Hemi's. Took it on a roadtrip to Vegas and then down to Boulder/Lauglin/ Bullhead City/Needles and then back home. Put about 900miles on it. Have to say that even the V6 is no slouch for the size of the car, but the V8 will be manditory. I could not be happy with a V6 in a large car like this and having to kick down to pass on the highway each time or to get back up to speed with slower traffic blocking at times.

My 6'8" Cousin rode around with us in Vegas area and he fit fairly comfortably in the front seat with another 6'4 person behind me, my 5'3" daughter in the middle rear, and my 6" wife behind him. They are designed great for taller larger people with lots of head and leg room.

Car handles sporty with very impressive brakes for its size. Isn't anything close to the Camaro by any means, but feels like a sportscar compared to a Lincoln Towncar, yet rides just as smooth and comfortable. I had it creaped up to 105 cruising back along the 40fwy until the wife looked at the speedo- then it was back to the normal 83mph cruising speed. The V6 purrs effortlessly at 83mph uphill, or down.It craves that specific speed and almost drives itself and still gets above 25mpg. The car even at 105 was completely stable. Note for the record, I have driven an 02 Tahoe with 20" performance tires on it and did not feel safe above 85mph in that thing- everyone was passing me an I would not go any faster because of comfort level. So for a comparison, this car is very stable feeling.

I took the rental back this morning and talked to a sales person again about the Hemi. They are not budging right now and want $6k above sticker even on a cash deal (Tuttle-Click). I am not about to buy any car for 1 penny above sticker, so its time to shop around more at different dealers. I at least know now that I like the car and would be happy owning one

Dean,
Thats a pretty good review.
Bigger people ( height and width) are tough to find cars for, especially because im not a fan of trucks or SUVs.
How much more are the Hemis compared to the V6's? I like the classic styling, and can definitely see myself in one, when the time is right

On a side note, a certain person on this board got a brand spankin new maxima, and i am quite impressed with the room available. I am 6'4 as well and have no problems in the back seat, and the front seat has tons of leg room. The leather is nice and comfortable, and the interior's chrome accents are real nice.
We test drove an Acura TL,which is about 3K more, and it doesnt nearly have the leg/shouldr room of the maxima with similar styilng and options.

Sticker on the fully loaded Hemi is 36k. Tuttle cClick is asking 42k for it and its a new '05. They already have several '06's out but I actually don't like the looks of the 06's as well as the 05 they have.

The car I mentioned above has the adjustable pedals, memory seats, best option headlights and taillights, Navagation and best stereo/cd package and a couple other goodies I could care less about like headlight washers, etc

http://www.tuttleclickcjfivestar.com/index.cgi?dc=1

Inventory- they have many '06's but still aren't willing to deal on the '05's yet. I've got time to wait, I'm not paying above sticker. I don't need a new car that badly to give up 6k to someone pocket just because they are popular right now.

Besides, I really want a black one so in the future I can trick it out and paint the bottom half orange with a stipe or two through the center just below the window line. I think given my reputation with cars I own, you can imagine that it won't be any where near stock 10 years from now if I buy one. I keep things I buy for a long time.

Me and My girl have been interested in Buying a Sport Utility Vehicle for a year now.. And she keeps asking me if we get the truck will I sell my Iroc.. Answer is No! don't even go there.. So No Truck right.. So here recently I found a Hemi Limited edition.. And she asked the question again but in a different phrase per say.. I said again No.. She goes Well at least we would be able to Tow the 3rdgen Behind Us rather than you sitting in It now on a Flat bed acting like your driving.. As that's the closest Im going to get right now to driving it.. Oh I laughed.. I like this Hemi she likes it and This could work.. And Oh man the price is so good.. This truck could really save me incase I have any issues with Smog in the future .. At least I could later do something with the car Track Wise.. With this Sport Utility.. And the Warranty on the Truck is real great.. 100%-100% parts-labor 80k or 8 years..
