Please don’t make me send her to the junk yard

Someone please make me an offer! This is a straight car that is perfect for a project. No reasonable offer will be turned down. I would hate to see such a capable vehicle end up in the scrap yard.

TIA

1986 factory Z28 the chassis has an LM1 in it however its got a cracked head and block. No transmission and a 2.73 peg leg 10 bolt rear end w/drum brakes. Its pretty much a rolling chassis. Price? No realistic offers will be refused.

C’mon dog, do you really think I’d own a scandalous boat like that? I’ve got a 1973 Schuster with a 455 olds that is more disco than the Bee Gee’s. Metallic gray gel coat with blue and red pin striping, it doesn’t get any more porno than that. Which is why I need to find a home for this bad boy, summer is on the way and daddy wants to play!

Mike, I'm tempted. I've been considering picking up another third gen to have as a dedicated race car.

However, I don't know where I'd keep it. My driveway is a little full at the moment.

Yo Mike,
You gave me an idea. How does an SC3G "water weekend" sound? My Jet Ski is doing nothing but collecting dust in the garage. Time to fire it up again.

I decided not to sell my ski and trailer since I now have the truck. I just need to get the ski up to the shop in Castaic to get it diagnosed and running again.

We could do a combo car gathering, BBQ and boating/water toy extravaganza.

LM1 = Carbed, neither TPI or TBI.

It all depends on if you want to repair the current engine or buy a new or used crate engine.

Do you also want to buy a built up tranny or just use a stock one out of another car? Looking for a fix-it-up for a daily driver or are you looking to run 13's or 12's with this car?

My guess is you want it just as a daily driver, so tell me if you would take an old or new motor, and things like that.

I'm just telling you that if you're quite a motorhead and can install an engine on your own, then this would be a perfect car for you, it would be fun as well as a learning experience at the same time.

However, if you don't know the difference between a hammer and a baseball bat, and will pay someone else to do all the repairs for you, then this car is not for you because by the time you pay for a new tranny as well as a motor and all the labor to install it all, you could have bought yourself a very nice, loaded used LT1 Camaro for that price, only if you like 4th gens that is.

A cracked head & block isn't salvageable in a million years. You'll need a whole new engine. (Though maybe you could salvage the intake manifold, lol.)

Wrong…the LM1 in this vehicle had a TPI on it and *** himself couldn’t repair this block. The harness for the TPI is still in the car and comes with it. However I do appreciate the effort.

This car is either perfect for a beginner or it isn’t. Allow me to explain, if you are looking for something to completely restore then I’d say this might be the one for you. Understand that this car needs everything. Interior, engine, transmission, and a rear end. This isn’t a car that’s going to be done after putting an engine and transmission in.

It came from the factory with an LB9 (Tuned Port 305).

Just out of curosity why did you go with the Grey Goose's chassis? Was that you didn't want to go through swapping the drivetrains?

I'm wondering that myself. Why start over with a whole new car? What does the Gay Goose have that the Redd Rocket didn't?

The RS has been in my family since it was purchased new back in June of 1989. My uncle (original owner) asked me to take it off of his hands. He felt that no one would truly appreciate the fact that it had been garage and meticulously maintained its entire life. When he brought it to me it had 335,000 original miles on the original L03 that had never had so much as had valve cover off, still rocking the original 700R4. Dyno Don can verify the fact that it still had the original transmission in it. The car sat for months at my house because I really wasn’t planning on doing anything with it. The rest is history…it’s a virgin car that no one has ever attempted to modify. I promised my uncle that I would retain the original RS emblems and not turn it into an IROC everything else is fair game. The bottom of the Rocket looked like it rolled over a series of land mines. It simply wasn’t fit for another round of buildup.

I had a feeling it might be something like that. That's why I was tempted to pick it up. It would have been good as a stripped-down dedicated race car. No worries about tearing it up in the event of an off-track excursion.

I just don't have the space or the extra funds right now. Between the truck and the GTA, my mod budget is pretty much spoken for.
