B&M megashifter or Hurst Pro-Matic 2 auto shifter

Engine: 3.6L
Transmission: 6-speed Manual
B&M megashifter or Hurst Pro-Matic 2 auto shifter

Anybody have experience with either one or both? How is the shifter and quality of the units? Do they hold the right detent or need to be adjusted every other month? Are they flimsy and cheap feeling?

Any notes from the install....like some people using the stock trans cable instead of the B&M unit?


I'm leaning towards the B&M but I still remember my friends bloody hand from his megashifter breaking and his hand punching the ashtray in his '66 Mustang while shifting pretty aggressively....

I prefer B&M, but my StarShifter in my '69 El Camino did bust the handle one time. B&M gave me a replacement part for free.

Personally, I'm happy with the stock shifter and GPL's B&M shift gate. Easy install, cost is like $25 and it works great.
