right now, I want to get everything set up and make the car running. then after I have everything properly installed I will save money for a 383 stroker kit and rebuild the engine and open up the heads a little, also change the fuel injectors and add headers..

you know, LT1 aluminum heads are pretty cheap, you might want to look at those. 58cc combustion chambers.. 10:5:1 compr.

nice engine, looks pretty clean from the pics

It does look nice, but didn't werent the LT1s from the Impalas way different than the ones from the F-bodies/Vettes? Smaller cam, more restrictive intake...... correct me if i'm wrong though.

Still a good engine and will be alot better than that L03.

dont know, and right now im looking for reliability I will worry about making the LT1 faster at a later time. Right now Im going to get everything needed to make the swap possible, once all that is through I will look into modifying the engine.

i think there will be a HUGE improvement in power over the L03. let us know how hard it is to actually get everything going.

you're thinking of the LT1's that were in the Buick Roadmasters.. they were called L99's .. Impala's were were the same as the F-bod's but got iron heads lower compression and i think a different cam.

the stock aluminum heads from the Fbody were 58cc's. Usually see them on ebay for 150$ for the pair.

came from an 95 Impala SS

It has iron heads... but I didnt know those aluminum heads were so cheap in price, The guy I bought it from probably buys them from a chop shop..... but he said the aluminum heads will warp if you plan to race and put headers on this engine..... I think it will warp only with a turbo or something

I don't think so. There are a lot of motors out there with aluminum heads and iron blocks both boosted and not boosted with no warping of the heads. Aren't the blocks the same with the LT1s from both the Impalas, F-bodies, and Corvettes? My GSX has an aluminum head and iron block running a factory turbocharger with no problems. My old TA had aluminum heads and an iron block and it has no problem either with the warping of the heads.

Sorry to change the subject, but that is one good looking X-Runner.

My Dad has one in Blue.... had to wait 3 months to get one. Those are really nice trucks though, although he has already had problems with the clutch and it popping out of gear.

Thanks! It was a PITA to find too because I wanted it black and most dealerships if they get one was in Speedway Blue. Doesn't help it's a limited production truck. The 05s had some problems with the trannies but that seemed to be fixed on the 06s. I love the thing and so far have zero issues with it. A supercharger kit has just been released for the trucks too by URD. Gave the test truck 316hp and 325 ft/lbs using 7 psi at the tires.

I think Psycho you will have no problems with the LT1 aluminum heads. Only issue header wise I had were the bolts kept backing out the head causing the gasket to blow. No warping though unless you overheat the hell out of the engine.

why wouldn't you stroke it??? My ultimate plan now is to build my savings account to 3k so I may buy everything I need for this swap, just swap drivetrain not suspension :-p
