Hey Vincent it looks like you are safe again. I think Jerry is correct and the correction factor of the dyno is off. Oh well it was good while it lasted.

He is not off the hook...it's where it made the numbers the really counts.
And, that is where you still have him.

From the pulls it seems to look like what Jerry mentioned, what was that a 360hp? The Dyno pull I did was a raised Dyno, So you can see the power of the car rocking the whole complete Dyno through every gear.

I don't know if this takes Vincent off the hook or not. Vincent's dyno pull was on the same dyno. Was his any more accurate? It really isn't so much how much horsepower you make on the dyno, but how it compares with your baseline. Need to get that beast to the track to see what kind of time it runs.

Hahaha. I was just baiting Vincent. Don and Russ are right. Here's why.

Last night I was comparing my latest dyno with the best of my old dyno pulls. I'm a good 30-35 horsepower above that at peak. However above say 5500rpm it really becomes dramatic. At 6000rpm I'm a good 100 horsepower better than the old motor.

The old motor starts to drop off after 5300+ rpm and the new motor just keeps going like the energizer bunny and even gets stronger to boot. So looking at the horsepower under the curve there is no comparison between the two. If I can control the shift properly from 2-3 I should be able to get into the 12.3x et with no problem.

Let's not forget we have dyno tuning to go. "If" I was getting the same spark retard that I was getting when Kevin was data logging there is more power to be had by eliminating that. Heck it was pulling 4-5 degrees of timing out with only a couple of knock counts and I'm only at 26 degrees now.

Look out Vincent!

I'm still not worried about Allen. Wait until we come from the dyno and get to the track. Hey Don! Watch out for sneaky Julie. She might be on your side at the finishline.

I wonder, who will win between Julie's 350 or Branden's 383 in a heads up race?

FWIW. I added up the uncorrected dyno numbers from my latest dyno pull and the best from the old motor. On average there is a 47rwhp difference. So if I ran a best 12.71 previously and I subtract .47 tenths for the added power that is a 12.24 et.

My previous best mph was a 107.85. Add 4.7 to that and it comes out to 112.55mph. So I believe a 12.2x and 112.xx should be doable on a good day and if I get the 2-3 shift correct.

You should shift around 6300rpm to get the best e.t. from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd.

For all you disbelievers, here is a graph showing the difference between Allen & Vincent's dyno pulls.

Notice where Vince's starts to drop off and Allen's starts to climb. (both uncorrected)

I don't know who would win between Julie and myself with this new combo Don is building. I dont know the combo? I seen her fully honed plenum, and she is using Kevin's 113's? We did race at Irwindale but it was not a fair race of course. I really have nothing left for gaining any hp. Just getting back to the drawing board with the tuning. The car is running really rich I can smell it coming from the engine itself, so I cant pass smog, waiting on that. But yeah I think it be a good race. Will see in the future. Looks like I cant get a good price on my car to sell it so it's stuck with me. If the plans looked good with Afr's and a ZZ9 cam I know Id have some more hp. But Im stuck with what I have.

Thats a good question! Now that I'll be running with the big dogs, there might be a lot of close finishes! It'll be nice to not finish a whole second behind...

wow i cant believe all the power your making that is great. i wish my zz 383 was making that kind of power and the specs on a zz 383 are 9.7 to 1 hypercautic pistons with 222/230 and 509/528 on 1.5 with gm roller rockers, fastburn heads rated at 210cc, hooker 2055 headers, edelbrock base, superram and a 52mm throttle body. i wondering how much more power on that car you have over me.

I hope you have read through the thread. The barometric pressure gage was off on the dyno. So rwhp was closer to 360-365.

1.You have 28 more cubes.
2. I have a point higher in compression.
3. My cam is effectively bigger with the higher lift and faster acceleration rates on the lobes.
4. My Edelbrock base has been Extrude Honed.
5. I'm running Dyno Don's 1 3/4" headers which I believe are one of the best on the market.
6. I'm running a 3.5" Mufflex cat back.
7. Dyno Don engine build with numerous little details.

Paging Vincent. Please pick up the red courtesy phone. Paging Vincent. Please pick up the red courtesy phone. Check the barometric pressure on your dyno run. Check the barometric pressure on your dyno run.

PS. In the meantime do not wager on who's car is faster.

360-365 is still very stout numbers for that cam and setup. nicely done

so who's car weighs what??

i think Allen's car is heavier by about 2-250lbs is that right? Unless Vincent has done some light weight mods.

Vincent has the manual tranny... Allen in the auto..

Allen is using 3.73 gears.. Vincent (dont know)

Allen.. are you going to go the extra mile and install a trans brake?
