yeah i know i mean i can pay a mobile mechanic to do it but i dont know how well their work is ya know? so im doing the best i can for my car without paying $1665 for it cause im financially screwed right now only have a couple hundred so im thinking about just puting in some steel seal to repair the leak i know i know theres no such thing as a mechanic in a bottle but its all i can do without frying my motor every day it it hurts cause its my daily driver and ive looked and searched for hours on steel eal and i guess it happens to work for well over 3,000 miles with no problems at all

Re: I need help or goodbye to camaro =(

I've put the block sealer in a Ford that was using a lot of water for a friend who didn't want to spend a ton of money on an F-150 with 220,000 miles on the "clock." It is a polymer. You flush all of the antifreeze out of your engine including the heater core, empty the can into the cooling system and top off with water, bring the engine up to temperature with the heat on, and run the engine for 1/2 hour. Drain the cooling system and let sit over night with the radiator cap off to let the air in to "cure" the stuff. It may or may not completely seal a leaking head gasket, but it should slow the leak to where you only need to add coolant once a week. You will need to run antifreeze, because our cars run at a normal temp that will boil plain water out of the cooling system without something in there to raise the boiling point. It is not a permanent fix, but it could buy you enough time to save for the head gasket job, or to get a new motor to swap in.

I had a major external head gasket leak on my 350 olds and used the small bottle for $6. Still run it like that no problem.

you can do it yourself. it is very easy to do, and does not take more than a day.

Re: I need help or goodbye to camaro =(

You need a book because of the sequence required to torque the head bolts back on.
Its a bitch of a job, esp without pulling the motor. Thats why most do a complete rebuild as a head job is 70% of the work.
I dont recommend it for a beginner unless you have experienced help to watch over you.

The guy who's working on my engine swap might be able to help you out. He's a mobile mechanic and he does head gaskets.
