Re: registration question.....

They will want fees for each year it wasn't registered plus penalties. The good news is that California doesn't recognize cars as collectible, so the annual fee for a 1968 is just the basic fee for a fully depreciated used car.

Dont let them just throw a fee at you and accept it. They will tack on every nickel and penny they can, hoping you'll pay it. If you complain, you can end up paying a lot less than they demand.

Re: registration question.....

Is the car in the system? You can call AAA (if r a member) or dmv and give them the vin number and see if it clear or anything...
Thats what i did when i bought my 54 ford a few years back. They said there was no record for it, b/c of it not being registerd 4 a long time and that it was out of the system. All i had to do was re-register it and get a new pink, it was like 350.00-ish.
Good luck.

yea i finally did it yesterday...they only charged me $301...
n i guess the old owner didnt register it for a long time....i think the clerk was a bit stupid...she made a big deal of it....first she said the car was stolen.....then she says the car was registered under a different name...i was like DUH im buying REMEMBER!
and finally all this crap about the car not being in the system n i got to have matching numbers so now i have to take it so that they see the vin number and FINALLY APpROVE it! MAN i want to get this over with!
on this specific car the vin is a tag on the door...hope they dont B.S. about that either...wish me luck fellas!
