Pick-a-Party
Pick-a-Party
I read an old topic that mentioned a bunch of people would love an excuse to go to a Pick-A-Part to look for engine blocks. I am updating my 64 Pontiac Catalina Station Wagon, hopefully with a 400 Block from 1968-1974 to match up with my engine mounts and the mount to the transmission I want.
What tools should I bring? How many people should I bring to even help me lift the thing? Any advice?
I am located in OC, CA. Let me know if any of you guys want to go. Thanks for looking.

For that 64 you might want to contact SCCPOCI and POCI if you havent already.

That would be a perfect solution. Now I just need to find the name. Do you know any other information on it? More specific location, maybe I can find it on google. Thanks.
I looked at the Pontiac Club that you mentioned and it says their forum is down and the last update I saw is like 2006. Do you know if they are still around?

So... I shouldn't use him at all? Is he just overpriced or a lot of his stuff is junk. His engine blocks are pricey, but he says they are already magnaflux tested. Should I search elsewhere for a block then?
A lot of his engine blocks are listed at $350.

That's the dude, before buying I try to do research on who has the same part for a cheaper price, bit if he has what you want and can't find it anywhere else, go for it man
Or try Craigslist. And cross your fingers LOL

Craigslist... ugh I hate searching using their site. And everybody adds a bunch of keywords that have nothing to do with what you are looking for.
But I did try them.
I will try going to Pick your Part or Ecology. Is there a list of tools that I should bring to remove the engine? I will be bringing my socket set, an adjustable wrench, pliers, wire cutters, screwdriver, hammer. Anything else I should bring?
Any advice? The last engine I removed from a car was over 7 years ago and it was only a straight six.
