Nick,
Thanks for the tip. I placed two bids but still came in under the top bidder. I know what I'm willing to pay for those parts so I'm gonna keep my eye on this auction.

You're welcome Brett.
I dunno what that setup is worth to be honest. You could probably price the parts out individually and go from there.
Oh cool. Can you bring the video to the next meeting?

The thing that's gonna get you with this auction is the new spindles. If the seller's reserve is based on pricing of new GM 1LE spindles you are talking around $350 EACH! Making for a possible reserve around $1200. Totally not worth it. You can pick up used spindles for $90 each and cut the ears off yourself. That's what I'm going to do. I'll admit that the spindle brakets and the caliper carriers are attractive pieces, but not so much if they have to be bought with brand new spindles.

Im the current high bidder
FYI My max is @ 500.00, and I thought that was high considering it doesnt have the rotors, calipers, hoses, bearing, misc.
Also I emailed him direct to find out want it would take to buy the set up direct, he said he "going to let it run its course"
Ok

FWIW, an aftermarket complete 1LE set-up from Stainless Steel brakes or other company will run you about $900 to $1000. So that should help in determining anyone's max bid for the set up on eBay.
I contacted the seller to see if they had any additional 1LE parts. I mainly want the spindles. The ones currently up for bid are the last pair they have.
Sure, I could modify a set of standard spindles, but I really want to score a set of actual 1LE spindles if I can.

I just got a new in the box set and its the same spindle you have with the ears cut off and the two holes taped. So just do your spindles and save the money.

Jerry,
In the end that's probably what I'll do. My main concern about modding a set of standard spindles was getting the bracket holes right. I've learned though that the holes are already there and just need to be drilled slightly larger and tapped.
If I can score a deal on some 1LE spindles, then I'll go that route, otherwise I'm gonna pick up a set of regular spindles and mod them. I want to keep my current spindles in tact.

How much would you charge to perform the modification to the spindles, providing of course you've got the time to do it? Originally posted by 8T8IROC

When i found a new set of 1LE spindles for allmost free and got them just to save the time so i have the set off my 92 that i can mod for you if you need the spindles.
I will mod a set and let you know long it takes and when done you will be able to set them next to a factory 1LE spindle and not tell them apart.
Also I found a shop that has seven new sets of pbr calipers loaded with cradles for a differant brand of car that i think will work for us i will find out this weekend.

Jerry,
In the event Randy passes, what do you want for your modded '92 spindles? You can e-mail me at bndonaldson@earthlink.net

But I suppose once the modification is done and "we" see how its done then maybe we can trade spindels as a core to have them modified? I'd like to have the 1LE setup on the IROC first then the RS (which needs to be converted to rear disc as well) Do the calipers vary much between 88-92? Thanks again Jerry!!
