How to identify late '89 rear brakes?

i haven't took off the wheel yet, but what i was able to see behind diamond spokes, i saw small brake caliber at 7 o'clock.

please tell me it's the better late model rear brake front brakes sucks big time already: can't make hard braking from 100mph+ or brakes will lose, last pads i changed after 2000 miles, you know the rest

You can tell simply by its appearance . The 89 rear calipers are finned PBR type calipers . The earlier calipers look more like the front .

Those brakes started in 89, so I don't think so. Better off getting a 3.73 axle and putting those brakes on... if you get a 3.73 disc 10-bolt (old style discs) the PBR ones will bolt right on. You'll have to swap ALL the brake hardware including the backing plate though.

hmm.... sounds like it might make more sense to get a rear with the PBR brakes and then have gears installed instead of having to find two complete axles so i can strip brakes off one.
