Sweet. I did the same thing except with Hotchkis parts. When I took my car to Jiffy Lube to have the diff fluid changes (and to have them make the cover leak
) the pit man called his friend down to look at it. My car looks sweet with the red suspension parts, new muffler with stainless band clamps and the new cutout peeking down. The front suspension is a mess.
Where did you get that driveshaft? It looks beefier than the stock unit, I'd consider getting one for that reason.

The driveshaft is a factory LS1 unit from GM, I ordered it from a dealership in VA I think, here is the link to it: http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28...up/misc/ls1ds/
The DS has a diff part# now but just tell Dal you want the 3" Alum. LS1 DS, he will know what you are talking about. I think it costs like $245 or so. I really like it and the vibration on the highway is almost zero which is NICE. I drained and refilled my diff myself, Took it off, cleaned it, painted, then took a abrasive polishing pad on a mini air rotary tool and cleaned the mating surface on the diff almost to a shine, used just a little silicon sealer and a new fel-pro gasket, hasn't leaked since. I also painted the part# tag and posi diff tag that hangs off the diff in red so that way they catch the attention of whoever might be working on it.

Where'd you get the gasket & what part # was it? I just ordered a gasket from 9bolt.com, it'd be nice to know if there's more convenient places to get it from. (That's why I didn't change the fluid the first time.) That's a good idea about painting the tags in red, I'm going to have to steal that from you.

No prob on the idea stealing Synapsis, its a good idea and I dont mind sharing. I can not remember the part# for the gasket. I got it at O'Reily's/Hi-Lo. They had it in stock and it was correct. If I can find the reciept to it I will post the # but do not hold your breath for me finding it. I imagine there is only one gasket for our rear ends so the one you got should be correct. Also, make sure your diff cover is truly flat once you get it off and clean it up. Check it from all angles with a straight edge. This will help insure it seals properly.

NICE JOB!!! I can't wait to feel the difference that changing out the suspension components will make. I'm on my front end right now.

They're the same height on the floor, but they'll compress on the car.

Yeah, my car is sitting about 1/4 - 1/2" lower than it was before. So far I am still very pleased with the results and I can not wait to get the front done this weekend. I do have one thing that I am kinda concerned about. I can hear something rubbing when the driver's side tire is turning. It has a slight soft thud sound as the tire rotates but I can not find anything making any contact against any components. Does anyone know what this might be?
Also, I have had several people email me asking me about my old springs. I threw the old springs away because that is exactly what they where, old springs with over 140K miles on them. I have had 3 people give me a guilt trip for tossing them. If you want some IROC springs, do yourself a favor and just go by some replacement GM or MOOG springs. I like the Eibach's alot better than the old stockers that came out.

Are there any drawbacks to getting an aluminum driveshaft?? At first I had no desire to get one, but after driving to S.C. this past weekend, I noticed just how bad the vibrations are.

No drawbacks that I have discovered yet to going to an alum. DS. You wil notice when you put it in that it is a little tighter fit inbetween the torque arm and exhaust but it still clears. I noticed a huge improvement at highway speeds with mine. My car still has a little vibration in it at high speeds but it is due to Austin's road conditions and the fact I am getting more feedback from the road now.

And I didn't get to drive it a whole lot, since one of the axle bearings crapped out already
