rear rattle (shocks...springs???)
I have a 1991 TA convertible with 70,000 miles. I have a rattle in the rear of the car.
I put the seat down and layed down in the back. The rattle is coming from the outside of the car and about 1/4 from the rear of the tires on both sides.
When I look under the car at this area I see the springs and shocks.
Does anyone have experience with rattles from bad shocks or springs?
Thanks.

do you have your e brake hooked up
if so try pulling it up hard a couple of times
this should adjust the rear brake pads
i get it from both sides of my car when the brakes get used up a bit
my e brake is not hooked up so i go underneath and do it manualy
trust me it had be baffled for a wile then i did this and the sound was gone

I sprayed some silicone on the rear sway bar and control arm bushings. I also sprayed the bottom of the coils where they meet the metal bottom retainer. It still made the noise this morning. So I took it to my mechanic this afternoon.
We drove down some extremely bumpy New Orleans roads!
I could not get the noise to occur!!
So I drove the car the rest of the day with no noise. So either the extremely bumpy road knocked something back in place or the silicone worked itself into where it needed to be????
Guess I will keep everyone informed as the week goes.
Thanks.

I put up with a rattle in the back of my car for a long time. Could not find it! Turned out that the bracket that the sway bar end links hook to (the one on the car) was loose. It would work its way up and down with bumps. The only reason I finally found it was because the metal behind it polished up. I spot welded it on and no rattle now for the past 50,000 miles.
