How do you match Swaybars?
Hey fellow fbody fanatics! Just another Hawaii camaro guy here saying hi and asking for everybodies input on swaybars. I have a refrigerator white 92 z28(just TES/3''exhaust) and am looking to upgrade my suspension. YES I HAVE done a search on swaybars but still have some questions. So how do you match swaybars? Im going to order a frontend kit, 1 1/4'' front and 1'' rear bars from P-S-T. ($hipping i$ alot to Hawaii, $o..) I have spohn LCA/relocators, Panhard rod, and a T56 torque arm sitting in boxes. I am going to go with bilsteins/prokit at 4 corners and welding on SFC's (Spohn??hotchkis??). So are 1 1/4'' and 1'' matching? Alot of you are 1 1/8 (36mm) and 1''(24mm), but they are hollow. PST's are solid. So what sizes will match up with my suspension? Oh BTW... gonna give drifting a try like your buddies REVLIMIT and CRAZYHAWAIIAN. Thanks for anybodies input.
Cheers, Fro

A larger bar in the rear as opposed to a matched set will allow the car to be easily "pitched" into a corner, and alot of trottle will keep it there like a sprint car.
For performance driving, this is bad. However, for drift or stuntcar type driving where you hang the @ss end out, this will make it more fun.
A balanced performance set with a good starting point is the 36mm FRT/ 24mm RR. Put a smaller bar on front like a 30mm and more roll center weight will be transfered through the stiffer rear bar causing the back end to washout sooner than the front.
For racing applictions, the 36/24 should be used in conjunction with end link adjusters so the weight transfer can be fine tuned to 50/50 based on what coil spring rates are used from front to rear. swaybar adjustments are for quick-tuning pitstop adjustments. Trans Am Series Racecars have an in-cockpit on-the-fly adjusters that can be stiffened or softened by the driver during the race via cables and levers. (This is the trick sh*t)

Since Driftsession is once a month, and this is also my daily driver, should I order 1 1/8" front and 1" rear opposed to the pair I mentioned?

As far as matched sets, it just refers to how they came from the factory. Look here for sets:

I'd just get the 36/24 pair and be done with it. Don't overlook the 34mm hollow front either, it's a real good bar, and easy to find. Both my cars came with it.

36mm is 1.417in. or almost 1 7/16 in.
24mm is .944in. or just over 15/16 in.
Divide mm by 25.4 to get in.
I used java calculators on the internet to determine sizes and compare with aftermarket bars. It appeared that the largest front was still 36 and I dont remeber the largest rear, but it was a little bigger than the 24. I dont recall seing any solid fronts as large as 36 though.
