steering box brace

I'm told that GM sells a steering box brace from some year 3rd gen for about 23 dollars. Does anybody know a partnumber for this as my GM dealer sucks at finding parts. If not a PN thaen a specific application would help.

Thanks

Use the search button and hunt for "wonderbar" but there's word GM has discontinued this part. Global West makes a heavier piece for about $45 or so.

Somethings wrong with that scan. I orginally went there and saw that, I then checked www.gmpartsdirect.com and it listed for $4.29 or something silly like that. It is not the wonderbar whatever it is.

I walked out to my shop and picked up my '90 parts manual and looked up the number, it is a couple posts up. It doesn't come up on gmpartsdirect though, probably discontinued.

14079634 WAS the correct number for the GM Steering Brace (aka Wonder Bar). The price from GMPartsdirect.com or VandeVere Olds WAS around $23. GM HAS discontinued it. Your choices are finding one at a boneyard, picking one up on eBay or the one of the 3 aftermarket versions, (including mine).

TDS p/n 105021 Steering Brace (aka Wonder Bar) for 1983-92 F-Body, $40. It is MIG welded and powder-coated in a color called "raw steel" which resembles cast steel. E-mail me if you want one or want me to e-mail you my Price List of current products. Lon

Here is a nice shot of mine,

And yes, they were $23 but are no longer available. I had 4 of them but they are long gone.

Hey Lon......received my order and the Brace looks good. Tell me this...since this is my first experience with the "wonderbar", will it only install one way? The picture in this thread shows the bracket under the bushing brace the opposite from how I would of tried it first. I have no clue which way is up. Your decal would be on the bottom side if I installed it my way. Maybe the decal placement makes no difference. Let me know, I plan to install it this weekend....Thanks.......post your answer here or e-mail me.

Ya, I have the dual fan setup. Easy way to do it is get the smaller fans and a new upper and lower fan brackets.

Yes, the TDS Steering Brace will fit only one-way. The label will be pointed down and the cross bar is to the front of the car. There was a lot of discussion regarding label placement up vs. down. The label is more visible from below, but unfortunately only at oil change time. I'm sorry I didn't have the instruction sheet ready when your brace shipped. It is shipping with all orders now. I thought I already sent it to you via e-mail though. I'm sending it to you again. It is in pdf format, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free from the Internet) to open it. I'm glad you like it, Lon.

I have posted it elsewhere, but I may have failed to mention it here. The TDS p/n 105021 Steering Braces are on sale through 7/31 for $34 (15% off). After that date they revert to the $40 list price. Domestic US s&h is $10. Lon
