My subframes are in... now for the questions
I recently had my subframe connectors installed.
(see here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=126249)
After taking me about a week to pull up the interior (It rained alot and I'm lazy) I took them up there. He welded them in, he constatly stated that these subframe connectors were some of the best he had seen and ought to really make my car more rigid. Bascially what I already heard on here.
So he finishes with subframes the next day and calls me, said they are done. He says they were a poor fit, and at some places required almost an inch of weld. He has installed quite a few subframe connectors for both camaros and mustangs. I also gave him the directions to installing them. I ride over there, get my car take it back. Well, here's where the problems start.
First off, no interior rattles and sqeaks have been in anyway been lessened. So I figured no big deal, my car has 160,000 miles on it, it was wishful thinking.
I figured I'd go drive it real quick and see how it rides, sadly, I can't tell a difference at all. Only thing I have noticed is that now the right wheel scrapes the fenderwell (I have zr1 with spacers, it normally did it under very tight turning... now it does it more commonly.)
So, I guess the question is, was I wishful thinking of what subframe connectors were doing after reading around on them?
Were they possibly installed wrong?
Is the difference maybe not noticble due to the hardtop?
Just looking for some kind of feedback here.

I just had Kenny Brown SFCs installed a couple weeks ago. No real reduction in creaks and rattles. They might be quieter, but could be wishful thinking. As for ride quality, it does feel like a more stable platform. But it's not night and day. Someone who didn't drive the car often probably wouldn't notice a difference.
My main reason for getting them was peace of mind. My old 82 Trans Am had stress cracks in the paint where the roof meats the side pillar, from the twisting of the car. So now that I have a 350 with t-tops, I wanted to prevent any future trouble with chassis flex.

The squeaks and such don't really bother me. Well, the hatch one does. I'll eventually fix all that, but I heard so much about subframes fixing them I figured they are worth I try. I think I do notice a difference under some parts, but not a night and day difference, in fact, I doubt most people would would ride with me before and after would notice a difference.
Either way I suppose they were worth it, I agree with the peace of mind idea.

Ions91Z28, What brand SFCs did you use?
My Spohn SFCs made a night and day difference in the car. My wife even commented on it. My sqearks and rattles disappeared right away.
I can't wait to see the NEW tubular Spohn SFCs. I bet they are going to be sweet.
Thanx,ANDYZ28

I still hear one or two squeaks from time to time. What I've noticed is that the squeaks you hear from turning the car or driving over bumps have been greatly reduced. I also noticed a huge reduction in body flex whenever I go over a bump, the car certainly feels stiffer. I can also take turns at faster speeds because of this.
Try going over a speed bump in a parking lot with just one side of the car (slowly of course). I think that doing this will explain what I mean.
