well if i remeber right, the ls1 drivesaft is an 1" or less larger than the stock one, so because that is diamater, it will be no more than 1/2" closer to your exaust than the stock one is right now.

if i am wrong on this i apoligise. the math is sound , i may just be recalling the wrong info on the diamater of the ls1 driveshaft.

Yeah, it's definately larger in diameter. 3" if I remember correctly. But I have a 3" exhaust and have no problems.

Is the LS1 driveshaft lighter? or more well balanced? or are you guys just putting it to have a stronger driveshaft?

yes b/c its 3 inch and the stock aluminum is still 2.5 inch. its alot steadier at higher speeds and is better balanced

its better balanced and lighter than the steel one, but it is ALOT weaker. theres lots of pics in the LS1 section of camaroz28.com of the driveshaft being ripped apart by drag radials. btw, the ls1 drive shaft is about as thick as your exaust pipe, hollow in the middle. the 1LE shaft is stronger

Hmmm...I see I see...I didnt know the LS1 shafts were lighter then the stock ones. I guess I'll go searching the junkyards then. I dont care that much if its not SUPER strong. Considering I dont drag race...if it can handle a LS1 then it should be able to handle my Lo3
