Karl, will the strut mount bearing assembly simply fall out when the snap ring is removed? Or is it a press fit?
If I remove it, is there a proper orientation I need to remember when reinstalling it?

Well, I know for a fact it is a press fit. He told me that they made a special tool to remove it. I belive what he was explaining to me over the phone was that they have a piece of round steel that is 7/8" in diameter, and cut one end down to 3/4". Then, to make removal easier, heat the whole assembly in your oven. The aluminum will expand at a greater rate than the steel bearing. After heating, place the tool on the bottom of the bearing and push it out. I'm assuming re-installing would involved heating and pressing it back in. I dont have the mount in front of me, so I dont remember if those sizes for the tool are correct, but I am fairly sure thats what he told me. I'm sure he'll respond with a clarified version of what I just said.

Also, I'd like to know if there is a part # for that bearing, and if so, can we have it in case we need replacements for some reason. Where can they be found? Thanks!

N/P FYI, that 1" diamter rod, needs to be 7/8", I THINK. Its either a rod that is 1" that gets cut to 7/8", or a rod that is 7/8" and gets cut down to 3/4". You could probably figure it out from looking at the part. I was trying to drive my new truck at and remember the bearing removal directions at the same time, lol.

I though he covered that in the instruction sheet he sent along with the mounts? I've read mine once and put them away until I install them in the car.

Thanks man, I apprecite it. I've got Word XP, but if you are going to attach it to a msg on the board, maybe Word 97 would be best, so others could open it up too. Thanks!

The bearing is an interfearance (press) fit.
Removing the snap ring will not allow the bearing to simply slip out.
The tool we made for installation and removal is not nesscsary - but it makes the job easier.
There is no special orientation for up and down - the bearing is symetrical.
When the strut is installed, the bushing inside the bearing must be at the bottom.
The bearing is an Aurora part# COM12
These bearings have proven to be very durable. Nobody should have to worry about them for years to come.
