*** damn I'd love that ****. Thats one of my dreams atcually to do that. Put a 3rd gen camaro body on top of a vette. Indendent rear and all that other good stuff ::drool:: haha...from the looks of it a C5 would benifit alot from a straight through muffler. Instead of having to make those bends and what not.
Slapping a thirdgen body onto a C5 rolling chassis would be quite an accomplishment, not to mention probably the champion royal PITA.
1. Thirdgen wheelbase 101 inches. C5 wheelbase 104.5 inches. 3.5 inches may not sound like much, but it would be noticable. You could theoretically stretch the thirdgen body. Easiest way would probably be to extend the front fenders foward, but we're not exactly talking easy here.
2. C5 rear transaxle. Host of problems fitting that under a thirdgen rear subframe. Lots of fabrication there, and an automotive engineering degree would be helpful to do it properly.
3. Thirdgen unibody... Do I really need to say any more?
Not saying it couldn't be done, but dude, unless you're looking for the wow factor involved in accomplishing such a feat, just buy a vette.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love to take on a project like that. Well, at least maybe after I've won the Powerball and I'm getting bored with all my free time and money (if that's even possible) Intriguing project idea though...
