Traction bar ?? >>>
Any idea of what this is bolted to the Hotchkis arm and welded to the upper portion of the axle ? Custom made? I have never seen anything made by Hotchkis that looks like this.... Anyone? Looks to be easy enough to make if it is custom. How effective would that be in addition to the torque arm?

I have never seen anything like that before either but with launches like this and times like 9.75 @ 136 with 1.3 60 ft. I guessing it must work pretty damn good. I would like to know if I could buy something like this I do think it would have to make a difference.

I figured the same, it does obviously work, I have tried to e-mail the owner of that car, but no reply yet. Nice car though eh? :hail: :rockon:
I would definately guess that they are custom made. It is the same principal design as the Lakewood lift bars only mounted on top. The custom swaybar mounted in the pic gives the custom made guess away- thats a hardcore setup done on most tube chassis solid axle racecars, they both were custom fabbed.
It looks like a type of traction bar, but the traditional ones only work on leaf-spring suspension. This is a modification of that principle to work on coil-spring suspensions.
Check Summit/Jegs for Competition Engineering part number CEE-2211, for example.
Allows better weight transfer to the rear on a launch (much better than the torque-arm can give!)

looks to be something similar at least, they are using a LARGE sway bar with solid mounts. the first pictures doesn't appear to actualy be a BRM sway bar, but the same idea, probably home fabbed though.

Not the sway bar guys... Look closely just above the rear control arm, there is a bar mounted to it. Stated above, it is something like the Lakewood traction bar, just above, instead of below the arm. The sway bar is differant from the BMR piece, but the same idea. Hopefully the owner of that car writes me back.
I did not get an e-mail from anyone but I will try and answer your questions. The sway bar is a Wolfe weld in from http://www.wolferacecraft.com/ The traction bars are PeteZ, you can get them from http://hpspecialties.com/ or PeteZ himself. The S/E guys use them as they are designed to be bolted on but we welded ours to the rear. They do lift the car nice and level and can easily be adjusted at the track. I have some better pics and will try and post them up for you. Hope this helps.

I would love to have a swaybar setup like that but only with an adjustable delrin bushing ( cable adjustable from the cockpit while on the fly) just like they run in Trans Am Series cars. That would be the snitz! To taylor your cornering balance according to fuel load and passenger if any.
