Out of top of the line of each manufactor, who makes the best shock. I am looking at Canyon Driving, but I dont want a shock soo hard it will unbolt my car while I'm driving. Well who's the best???

This isnt going to anwser your question, but I would like to know that anwser too. I'm getting ready to replace the rear shocks and front struts (getting tired of bouncing up and down when I hit a little bump).

I think Spohn recommends Bilstien. I read that somewhere.

Bilstein

From personal experience as well as a good old fashioned searh of the boards, Bilsteins are the BEST shock to get for street use.

I would only recommend Bilsteins, the only downfall is the price, but compared to KONI's they are cheaper

Now as I read before from some of the guys that do autox, and little to no street use, KONI is better, (read stiff teeth shattering ride).

Had them in my GTA, like a rock

I recommend Bilstein all the way.

Just for some info, they are used on the Corvettes trucks (4th gens, caprices 94-96 police package and so on)

Good old GM Delco stickers over Bilsteins

Won't the ones off of 4th gens fit on the rear of our cars? Are they in the 94 z28s? Hmmm might not be a bad upgrade if that is true...

I'm a die-hard Bilstein man myself.

I just ordered a set of Bilstein struts from Vettebrakes. Total cost was $320 with shipping. (Sorry Steve...hate to take business away from you...just letting people know of a good deal on Bilsteins.) Although I have never used Bilstein before I went with them because of the postive feedback Ive heard. I took one of the struts outta the box to see how strong that strut is and I was amazed to see how strong it was! My friend just put KYB's in his g/f's camaro and I can honestly say that I feel Bilstein is wayyyyyyyy better than KYB. <~~~Just my opinion. Im basing this on taking both struts in my hand and compressing them. Ive never heard anything postive or negative about QA1. Bottom line...you pay for what you get.

Later..

I've had both on my '86 and Bilsteins are alot better then KYBs. IMHO, the KYBs were just too soft for hi-performance driving.

I found that with Bilstein's reduction in price, there was also a reduction in quality. On a shock dyno, I found that 2 equal Bilstein shocks produced different compression and rebound curves over the same test. Why? Who knows. I have my opinion on that one, though. I have found that Koni offers the best and most consistent valving curves even when adjusting. Koni can't be beat over the long run in competitive use. They can tend to be a little firm for mild street use though. For the money, go with the Konis.
