Brake line fitting size question.....please
I finally did the prop valve mod to my rear brakeless 89 IROC and then popped the line
right at the fitting where the main front to back line goes into the rubber hose by the rear diff.(Guess the brakes are getting pressure now) Question is I dont want to replace the whole line but just the end fitting and use a compression fitting to splice the lines but I don't know the exact size line I need. I went to a autozone store for one and of course they gave me the wrong size and they threw away the broken one
It's a 1/4 inch line but the fitting is bigger then a regular line and it's also a inverted flare. Can I buy the fitting I need at a hardware store or do I need a complete line front to back? If anyone knows the size and type needed please reply asap. Thanks for any help

Guess I go to autozone again and see what they have and hopefully they give me the right size this time. Thanks
:nono: compression fitting, wont hold the pressure and it wont pass inspection either, u are better off replacng the line, much easier than fighting with the factory line, which is a real PITA to flare. its definitely a metric fitting and u will have to get a line that has the bubble flare on it otherwise it will definitely leak.
i just replaced that same line because it was so much work trying to flare it when i installed my line locks and my adjustable proportioning valve.

Well, inspections dont bother me since we don't have em here
just emission tests
but I'll take your advice and replace the whole thing. Where did you get yours? I figure that it's not a regularly carried line in your average auto store. Dealer maybe?
