New springs and Verts - which ones make it sit right?

It's time to do the front/rear suspension (springs, shocks, and struts) on the IROC Convertible and I was wondering about the springs.

Here's the question.

I want to use GM springs and aftermarket shocks/struts. I want the GM springs because I want to keep the "original" factor as much as I can. The convertibles already weigh more than the non-verts because of all the reinforcement steel.

(1) Will 1LE springs make the car sit lower, higher, or about the same?

(2) Will stock IROC springs make the car sit lower, higher, or about the same?

Anyone know the answers?

I used Moog replacement springs and put KYB GR2 struts in front and the car sat the same, but the handling was a lot better. Iput stock IROC springs in the rear with the KYB GR2 shocks and the car sat the same. I wanted the replacement Moogs for the rear but the only replacement they had were called Cargo Coils (CC) and it raised the back of my car to high, so I put the IROC'S back on and now normal height.

you can go to autozone and get springs for a 92 z28 for 37.99 front pair 55.99 for rear. here is the part #fcs5662s for front. rcs5635v for the rear.

www.fl-thirdgen.org/frontspringswap.html

here's the difference it made. brought it back to original height.

Those look like Moog part numbers. 5662's are moog fronts and 5635s are moog rears. just go to summit and look up mog-5662 or mog-5635.

EDIT: actualy, i just checked that and moog rears are mog-5665 and those are NOT cargo coils. Those are OEM replacements.

According to Federal-Mogul's web site, 5662 is the front IROC springs. The 5665 number is for 82-86 Camaros, EXC Z28s (Summit says OEM for 82-91 Camaros and Firebirds). So what the heck IS the correct rear spring for an IROC? The CC635 is the variable.

Honestly, on an 89...your springs have enough sag in them by this time, that if you put in a set of 1 to 1.5 in lowering springs, it would sit at the same ride height you have now.

I used the ProKit in my 91 vert and love them. Its a pain to replace them, but they are way thicker than stock and reduce body roll very nicely.

And I love the stance my car has....not too high (factory) and not too low either. No probs with speed bump clearance.

For what its worth..........
