will this steering column work?
i need a new steering column for my 85 t/a, its an auto and has tilt, and a delay wiper switch. will a steering column work from an 85, or 86 that has cruise control?

Yes. The only difference (besides the options) is that the column from a stick car has a little extra key latch thingy you have to push to get the key out, but the auto column does not.

yes you ca swap it....Im not sure if the new one is a manual tranny column tho.
I put a auto column into my manual car(just have to make sure the auto column is turned into park for it to start). If you take apart the coumns you can swich the wiper switches if things dont work out for you. They are sometimes hard to finger out to take apart (if you never done it before) but get some tips its not too bad. You can even use your old key tumbler if your taking apart the column anyhow to change the switch.
To remove a column all you need to remove is:
- Plastic (under dash piece)
- 1 bolt and nut from steering shaft under hood
- 2 or 3 (I forget which) bolt from column holding it to the floor/firewall
- 2 nuts (or bolts, I forget) holding the column to the dash
- unplug 2 or 3 wire connectors bepending on what opions you got
- clips holding small cables going to the guages and going to the shifter
