Question about upper strut mounts (Spohn)...
I was going through Spohn's website and came across this
http://www.spohn.net/index.cfm?fusea...&productid=117
This isn't a part that you hear about being or needing to be replaced very often. I'm just wondering how you know when this needs to be replaced, will it make noise or something? I don't know much about this particular part, the functionality or when it's need to be replaced.

When the bearings in those get worn, they tend to bind up when steering movement happens...making a noticeable popping sound.
I got new Moog replacements a while back and cleared up my pop, about same price for the pair as what Spohn is asking but he didn't carry them at the time.

Maybe that will take care of my popping noise. I couldn't seem to find it till I read this last night. Then I took it out for a spin. Sure enough, it's the struts.
What would I need to do to change the strut mounts? I would like to change the mounts, springs, and struts out with something a little different. My struts are fine, just not any good with handling, they seem better for ride comfort.
TIA

I seem to have a clunking coming from the suspension when I go over bumps, could it be these. I just replaced the shocks and struts about a year ago.
It's hard to tell but there may be a clunking in the rear too, any ideas on what this is?

If the clunking in the rear isn't the rear-end, there is a possibility that it is the bushings. A friend of mine had the bushings wear to thin, and everytime she hit a bump or change the drive gear (drive/reverse) it would make that clunk noise. If you jack up the rear end, twist the driveshaft back and forth really hard. If you can hear it from the housing, then you know what it is. Also why it is up, you might as well change the buhsings. Her bushings that went bad were the LCA bushings. Hers were fixed by changing them out with poly.

Question about the Spohn pieces: Are they the same height as the OEM pieces? I'm looking for a set that dont have any type of raised top (to accomidate a drop per say). The struts I plan to run are shortened, so I need something close to the OEM strut mount height for it to match the drop. The raised top ones out there on the market mean I have to lower the car even more, thus messing up my geometry even more. Also do they allow more than stock adjustments to camber or caster? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before at some time, lol. As far as I remember, they are just stock replacements, maybe even Moog. Can't be positive though. Steve will probably chime in about this.
