Car dies when I hit brakes.....
So Ive had this problem starting to get more and more dangerous. It started about amonth ago when i noticed when i hi the brakes and usually not that hard the car would lose voltage and seem as if it would stall but then it would catch itself. Now Ive hit the brakes today three times and it stalled out completly. It will restart just fine. All i do is slow down with the brakes on and it just dies real slow not like a jerk or anything.
What the heck could this be? Is my transmission not disengaging? is there a voltage draw wtih the tailights
/ I havent done any mods to the tailights or any of the ignition or anything
Thanks in advance guys

Car idling in drive - E-brake on only (no brake pedal pressed) does car idle fine?
Then press brake pedal and car dies?- brake booster not holding pressure, you have a major vacuum leak.
Sometimes the EGR diaphram can develop a tear in it and cause a severe and sometimes hard to detect vacuum problem also. Check the entire vacuum system first before replacing anything. If there are no leaks in the system then the booster should hold at least 18-22 ins. of pressure - If not then replace.

I've got the exact same problem
A few months back I had a school bus pull right out in front of me, so I had to of course slam on the brakes. Ever since then, it is really hard to press the brakes down. Just like when sitting at a red light the idle will start going up and down and there is this hissing sound coming from the brake pedal. Does my problem sound similar?
Thanks,
Will

probably a vaccum leak somewhere. My sister had same problem in her gt stang. She did a panic stop and ever since it would hiss and there wasn't any powerbrakes. It was a tear in the vaccum line.

Thanks so much

I had this exact same problem with my car, everytime i would push the brakes it would just die smooth. pulled over at a quik trip got underneath with a flashlight and it turned out being a speaker wire touching some metal and shorting something out, some electrical tape jobs later, worked great ever since, it is really scary though when your car keeps shutting down. most likely its a short somewhere, just gotta find it
if i were to take a guess, i would say your EGR valve may be dirty or corroded and is not always closing when you let off the gas. Try removing and plugging the vacum line to the EGR valve.
Also is your ignition in good shape?
Do you have any trouble codes, maybe a TPS error?
Does it always stall when you brake?
what is your minimum idle, if it is set too low a dirty or malfunctioning idle speed motor may not correct fast enough when the throttle is snapped closed.
I don't recall if the minimum idle screw is accessable on a TPI but if you unplug the idle speed motor you should see if it idles at the reccomended setting.
Water in the gas tank, or dirty injectors. Try some drygas and gumout.
