its about time for some new pads on the car... just wondering what type of pads you guys were running on your car... Autozone has a Performance Friction set for $55 and a semimetalic set for $17...

Chris,
I was running Z rated perf friction pads which came with the upgrade brake kit from Baer Racing. These are superb when hot but not quite so responsive from cold.Last year I fitted a set of EBC Greenstuff pads which are great from cold and throughout the temperature range.I dont think they are quite as good for continuous heavy braking from high speed but apart from a track day, when would you need this.Overall the EBCs are the best for everyday driving and the cleanest too.
The rotor ive got are 13"ZR1sfront and 12"rears so this makes a huge difference over stock too.
cheers

John

I am using the hiperformance Wagners at the moment. I would say its a good idea to never run cheap brake pads.

I'm currently running hawk pads up front. I did a lot of searching and reading comments on those and the greenstuffs. I chose the hawks due to (gasp!) price. Although they still cost more than most pads I guess, so I'm ok.

EBC Greenstuff pads front and rear, but they dust a bit more than I'd like. I'll go with ceramic pads next time.

I have used both the EBC GreenStuff AND the Hawk Blacks. I am currently running the Hawk's. Frankly, they suck. As soon as they wear out or maybe sooner I'm going back to the EBC pads, they were MUCH better. Use EBC GreenStuff for the street and EBC Reds for the track and high spd braking...

I have Performance Friction pads. When cold, they suck. The car will barely stop with the pedal all the way to the floor. I got Hawk HPS pads that I'll be trying soon.

I used to use EBC HH pads on my bike, they could lift the back wheel with 2 fingers. They were sinthered metalics, and were a massive improvement from stock and worked great from ice cold to molten hot. Do they make these for cars??

I got the VGX stockers. They're ok. Just waiting to get a Baer kit.

i'm running the VGX pads and i find them to be inferior to good parts store pads. The one nice thing about them is they came with the hardware kit

I've got performance frictions Z rated on mine as well. I haven't had the cold brake problems others have mentioned, but I had other problems. When they were new, I had to stand on the damn pedal to stop, and it usually locked up my rears in the process. A few hours after installation, after several quick stops from highway speed, they were much improved. It took several days before they started working better than the old pads ( I almost returned them).

I think they just have to be broken in good and hard to work well.
