What size spacer between drum and z28 Rims on a 91

My GF got a 91 RS and got a set of 91 Z28 rims and I know we need some sort of small spacer between the rim and drum. What size is it? Thanks

I have heard rumors about 2 reasons.

1) The spacer prohibited corrosion between the rim and drum, so they wouldn't rust together.

2) The drum brakes gave the rear 1/2" less total width over the disc setup. The spacer brought the rim out to the correct width.

Um, NO. You have to think about the contact area of the rim surface to the drum. If anything run the car without the spacers until you get a set.

If you are that bad off, I think I have a spare set that I will let for cheap. PM me if need be.

The spacer was installed on Iron drum brake cars to maintain the same distance when the Aluminum drums were discontinued. Not that big of deal if you decide not to use them. Most were lost over the years when cars changed hands.

1/4 huh? My spacers are pretty thin, about a 1/8 or 1/16 maybe. I kind of wondered why they bothered.

When I had mine they measured .187 or 3/16". I forgot to add in my previous post that they were also added to be used with the 16" wheel & tire package.
