Is a drive shaft safty loop needed?

I'm planning to put on a torque arm and several friends suggest I install a safty loop. The torque arm is the last suspension item i need.I just installed an an aluminum driveshaft and they think after I light the tires the driveshaft will snap. Everyone can see my sig. and see what I have; I don't think I'm putting that much HP and Torque to the ground. I might be wrong? Looking toward the future, I might be putting a 300-350 HP crate engine in. This is an everyday driver. Is a safty loop going overboard?

Good insurance...

Id get one. Although the chances of you breaking a driveshaft are pretty slim, theres still the slight possibility you may break something and send yourself pole-vaulting through the air. I dont think the loop is much extra cost over the standard torque arm, anyway. Besides, if you ever plan on any type of organized racing, the NHRA mandates it for cars running lower ETs.

kinda like seat belts or a cage, just extra weight till you need it. i'd make one and install it, better safe than sorry.

They are morons. It will take twice the power you're making now with sticky tires and a hard launch to snap a driveshaft.

The loop is good cheap insurance in case of a U-joint or driveshaft failure. In the event of a failure, it will save your life. And if you plan running it at the track, 13.99 and quicker and they will want to see a loop, or you don't run Some places may overlook it if you are running street tires though.

I agree with ede, I have personally seen a mild charger break the front u joint and poll vaulted the car and almost flipped. Needless to say but it took out the trans, floorboards and rear end yoke. If it were me I would put one in, I would not want to go for a ride like that.
