8-point roll cage installation

In a couple of days, a buddy of mine and I are going to begin installing a S&W roll cage(8-point) in my 89 iroc. I have a good idea how it is suppose to be installed. However, I was wondering if there was a website somewhere that may have detailed instructions. There may be a reference on this website that I do not know about. S&W supplied and extreme brief set of instruction with very little detail. It also comes with a not so good drawing of the installation.

Some pictures would be nice showing the location of the mounts for a S&W cage. This is basically my main concern. However, I think many times the mount locations are a matter of person perference and how safely the cage best fit the car.

Thanks

If you plan on going to the track and / or getting the cage certified in any way, you should read the NHRA rule book to see what the requirements are for installation. When I had my kit installed my installer had measured me seated in the car so that he can get the dimensions NHRA legal. I think the top of the roll bar has to be within so many inches of your helmet, the cross bar has to be a certain height, and hte down tube on the side has to pass between the elbow and shoulder. I dont know if those are correct or not just what I was told. Maybe this thread will show you more on where the mounts go.

Good luck hope it comes out well!

Wow, that looks bad ***, but those bars in the hatch area look like they weigh quite a bit.

Why do you need anything more than a 5 point? You probably added 200 pounds to the car. You can run 10.00s legally with a 5-point bar.
