rattle coming from brakes?

whenever i hit a pothole or other imperfection in the road the passenger side brake makes this rattling noise as if somethings loose? is it the caliper bolts that need tightening? cuz i wiggled them around and they seem to have some play in them, other than that i dont know what the noise is but im guessin thats it

check your tie rods, i have the same rattling noise sometimes and i also suspected a loose pad but it seems like the tie rods are my problem... not exactly sure yet. u need to tighten those caliper bolts tho in either case ASAP. those things are usually torqued down on there really hard.

Try this, I had the same problem. jack the wheel off the ground and rotate it back and forth and you will see (if this is the problem) that the brake pad will move back and forth within the caliper and make the noise. Just look at it and see how you can bend the tabs to stop it from moving. Just an idea.

By the way, im pretty sure the caliper is supposed to be able to move a little, thats why its mounted with pins

when you do that and the whole thing moves (pads and calipers) then look at the bushing in that pic i posted above (numbers 3 and 4) 3 is called the outter bushing and 4 is called the inner bushings
