Wonder bar

Recommend one TDS or Spohn's. I like spohn's adjustable one, but TDS's is got a better end bracket and it also bolts to the frame not just the plates. I wish spohn and tds would get together and combine the two. If I end up going with spohn's I will diffently add to the end brackets where I can bolt it to the fraim rail also.

Who as one, who has tried both. any experiance would be appreciated. I know either would greatly improve the car. I know both companies are great, I have done businiess with both.

Its easy to make your own, if you got the time, materials and a welder. Me and my friend who is the welder, made SFC's, STB, boxed in my LCA's, as well as the wonderbar.

Well I have looked at many and just wanted some recomandations between the two. I would rather through my business to the small companies that specialise in our cars, globle west I haven't looked at I will later today.

Anyone have one them.

I've got one, it took a little grinding to install, but not a big deal in my opinion.

EDIT: It's a Global West

I have the TDS one powdercoated Red. It bolted right in, no modification required (I hear the Spohn version requires some) and I like Lon's design better than any I've seen. The extra mounting hole is a VERY good idea. It's a very high quality piece and I definitely recommend it.

I made my own, works great. I've made my own wonderbar, strut-tower brace, subframe connectors, lower control arm relocating brackets, and boxed the stock panhard rod and lower controls until I can find the time too finish building my tubular adjustable ones. Why buy stuff if you have the knowledge and tools to make it yourself.

I have an '89 IROC-Z 350 TPI. Did my car come stock with this bar? I notice another bar by the front sway bar, would this be my wonderbar? Thanks.

knowledge yes, the tools no. If I had the access to the tools required to fab all this up, I would defently do it. But I don't have any specility tools, I would need a welder, drilpress, etc. I can cad it up but what good does it do me to design it w/o the tools to build it. Thats why I am stuck buying them. I could prabably get access to some of it but by the time I paid for use of things I couldn't use for free I would be in for more than what I could buy it for.

Irocster

I may be wrong on this but the stock peice was black. It goes from the plate where the idler arm is to a plate on the other side of the car at the gearbox area. You should have the sway bar, a draglink, and a wonder bar, all three would span the width of the car almost. The drag link or center link connects to the idler arm and gear box and goes to the wheels via the tierods for turning. So as for your question I'm not sure if you are seeing the draglink or the wonder bar, the wonder bar would be straight.

Yeah, the bar I am talking about is straight, it runs parallel with the front sway bar....so is this the wonder bar?

I agree completly, if you dont have the tools it would be much cheaper to buy the parts. If I didn't have access to the tools I would have purchased them also.

i would go with the TDS bar, i have heard it fits better, i am sure it weights less than anything Steve makes. and also, i don't buy the adjustable wonderbar thing, unless you have frame damage, i see no reason why you would want to put added stress on the frame rails.

No, I'm asking if my car came stock with a wonderbar.....cause if I have it, there is no point to getting an aftermarket one.

Has anyone welded one in? is this advisable? does it ever have to be removed to access anything? does it interfere with the radiator drain **** at all? I asked Lon about the bar and he had a good point about the preload causing undue stress on the frame, and needing more and more preload over time. I am definetly leaning to TDS over Spohn, seems to be a better peice and a better price.
