i figured this would be easy considering it's only two bolts, but i figured i'd read the instructions anyway. spohn's instructions say to "lift rear of vehicle and support by frame rails. DO NOT SUPPORT BY REAREND!"............and Haynes says to place stands under the axle......i'm really not looking forward to the rear axle moving on me......
so which one do i do?

when i do it , i support by the frame.
also, don't unbolt BOTH at the same time, it is much easier to do 1 at a time.

is it EASIER to do it supported by the frame for some reason? as in, which way of doing it would cause the axle to move least? and if the answer is by the frame, i've read several posts about where to jack it up, and none of which has answered the question to my satisfaction. ive only TRIED to lift the car by the rear frame once, and, like everyone else, i bent the little notches. so i just use the pumpkin. and i dont see a sturdy looking point on the frame. thanks for the quick answer.

before i had subframes, i jacked it by the pumpkin, get it up high enough to put the jackstands on the frame rail forward of the lca mounts.
thanks dewey. i got the first side in about a half hour after i started, and ill do the other one later.
for anyone else that's planning on doing this, i put the jackstands where dewey said, on the frame just forward of the lca mount, and then used the jack under the axle to balance the weight between the frame and the axle and keep it from moving. nothing moved even a millimeter.
spohn's instructions say to torque it to their specs but there's no room to get a torque wrench in anywhere so i just tightened it down as hard as i could and assumed that was about right.
tomorrow if it clears up ill try it all out.
