Energy Suspension Sway Bar End Links?
Energy Suspension Sway Bar End Links?
Confusion is abound here... I keep seeing people differ over whether the 9.8125 (2 3/8") or 9.8117 (2 5/8") sway bar end link should be used for the rear. I have the 9.8125 in my hand as we speak. Should I return it and get the 9.8117? What REALLY makes me mad is that every catalog seemingly ignores the fact that the F-body (and I'm sure many other cars) has both front AND rear sway bar end links. ARG!

I used the GM 1LE poly end links for my 85 IROC; however, in advance of that purchase, I did look into Energy Suspension. My notes tell me that I was interested in Summit part number ENS-9-8117R (Red), sleeve length 2 5/8.

Front and rear are the same. The 1LE poly end links that I'm using, for example, front or rear, are listed as GM 10221779. By the way, I much prefer the fashion in which the latter fit in the sway bars and a-arms. You may find that the orginal end links have ovaled the hole the in a-arm. I did a weld and grind before replacing, then after, perhaps fifty miles, I retorqued.

I also used the 2 5/8" sleeve length end links, front and rear. You can always file the sleeve down if you want to tune the sway bars further.
And as James mentioned, when I rebuilt my suspension, I found out that the holes in the lower control arm had indeed "ovalled" out. I was just too fed up/dirty/greasy/tired to weld 'em up at the time.
