Steel brake line question....
Steel brake line question....
Is there a reason that the hard lines that come out of the master cylinder look like pig tails? AND, is it possible to replace that hard steel line with a braided line? Has anybody done this?

they are all twisted like that, so that the lines to the pass side and drivers side, are the same length. i have never seen steel braided replacements myself.

i wouldn't think it would, <shrugs> as i don't think the rears are the same or even the fronts for that matter.
maybe they did it, because the guys at GM new it would **** as all of , and make us wonder for years
i am really suprised the bean counters would let them get away with using an extra 6" of line, so it must serve a purpose, eh

It allows for flexibility and thermal expansion of the lines. When the bakes get hot the fluid gets hot and that heats the lines which causes the steel to expand....if they weren't spiraled like that they would crack and leak fluid everywhere. You could replace them with braided lines and not have a problem, but good luck findign lines with the right thread pattern.
