griggs/MM type torque arm?

Has anyone used or seen one of these used on a 3rd gen?
to pre answer the why? I am putting in a T-10 and have to fab a torque arm no matter what I do and I have a good 12 bolt with eaton posi sitting in the basement. The 12 bolt won't easily adapt the standard type of torque arm for a 3 gen.
thanks

i assume when you mention griggs and MM, you are talking about the seperate cross member?

if so....

BMR makes one 2 that attach via a weld in x-member

http://thunderracing.com/index.cfm?f...yid=1071#T1153

spohn also makes one that attaches to the tranny crossmember, he actualy makes one that is T-10/Muncie specific.

http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1308

Hope that helps!

the griggs and MM do have a separate cross member but that is not really the point of it for me. The problem with the arms you have pointed out is there is no way to mount it to a GM 12 bolt in stock form. Griggs and MM are mounting them to ford 8.8 which is a similar set up to a 12 bolt.

how is the 8.8 similar to a 12 bolt?

are you talking about trying to mount the torque arm to the around the perimeter of the centersection of the rear housing?

how is the 8.8 similar to a 12 bolt? --similar in so much as it has a rear cover rather than a removable center like a for 9".

are you talking about trying to mount the torque arm to the around the perimeter of the centersection of the rear housing?--
yes

Why not just build a 4 link? I mean no matter what you do it sounds like you are going to have to do some serious fabrication. I could be wrong, just adding my thoughts...

you might be better off trying to weld a TA mount to the housing. as far as i know no one make a TA like those for our cars.

ladder bars would probably be the easiest suspension change over. if you descide to go that route. other than that you are left with building your own.

you might also try to find out how moser and strange get the TA mount on their 12 bolt housings

ladder bars would probably be the easiest suspension change over. if you descide to go that route. other than that you are left with building your own. --that kind of stuff is my hobby so that would be the way I would go

you might also try to find out how moser and strange get the TA mount on their 12 bolt housings--I believe they cast a new center housing with the ears cast into them.

thanks for your ideas, I guess if I want one I will make it in the shop.

what about welding brackets to the axel tubes, just outbored of the center section? you could then join them with a plate top and bottom and mount a torque arm that way.

I have and will explore that some more as the way I would really like to do it is make some type of attaching bracket and then use a normal 3rd gen type torque arm.
