89 350 tpi sway bar questions!

Hi everyone, I just pulled the front sway bar off of my instructors(i am at a vocational school) 89 Formula TPI because he said I could. He is junking the car because he got what he needed out of it. So my question is, is this sway bar a 34mm hollow? It seems pretty light for its size. I thought this is the bar that came with the formulas. I would like to know so I know which bushings to buy for it and sway bar links. Also it will bolt right into my 86 TA right? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

It could easily be a hollow 36mm (if so, grab the solid 24mm rear as well). Both are bolt-on replacements. Check sig. Greaseable bushings for that comob can be had from TDL as well as end links, I believe.

If its hollow its an aftermarket sway bar. I know mine is a 36mm and that sucker was pretty beefy. The only way to tell for sure what size it is, measure it. If your at a vocational school there should be some Venier Calipers around somewhere if its an old dial type and doesn't give metric readings just divide the number by 25.4 to convert to metric, I.E 1"=25.4MM

The hollow 36/solid 24 combo (I understand there was also a hollow 34) is straight from GM. Some Camaros 89-92 and some Firebirds 86-92 were equipped with them. I've found and sold many that I've picked directly from the bone yards.

Oh! whats the weight of the hollow versus the solid. Any other way to identify if its solid or hollow?

Humm, I don't recall the weight difference, though it is several pounds lighter. I've seen weight listed on this site in the past, so you might consider a search. If the front is hollow, you'll find a small hole on the underside (drive and pass) of the bar near the end links.
