e-brake not working

You pull it back and nothing happens, it will just go all the way back (vertical). To get it it work you need to hold the silver tab (don't know what its called) up. The problem is it isn't catching the teeth, it used to work if you pulled it to the passenger side as you pulled it up. The teeth don't look worn which is what gets me.
Anyone have any idea whats up, would I be better off just getting another e-brake, it looks like its just 2 bolts and the cable to change it but I havn't looked hard.

Sounds like it just needs adjustment. You can make adjustments to the travel length by moving the tensioner which is under the car in the trans tunnel, looks like this:

I really don't think its the ajustment. If I pull that metal level up as I pull back the e-brake it works fine. But if I don't the handle just goes right back, and you can see how its not catching the teeth where it should be. Ill try ajusting it a little though and see if it helps.

OK, I get it... I'd just get another e-brake lever and replace the one you've got. You should be able to get one from Roy (TGR) or Bruce (Hawk's) for less than $20 and it's a quick fix. If it fixes the problem, adjusting it won't be necessary.
