Front Tower Brace

I was wondering if anyone out there uses a 305 TBI with a front tower brace. I've seen it done with an Open Element Filter, but since the only braces I've seen say TPI, I wanted to make sure it works with the filter before I spend $160+ on something that doesn't fit.

If you can find a Jamex STB somewhere, it fits great. I don't think the TPI braces will clear your air cleaner.

The guy from JEGS told me it would fit up to a 17" or 18" diameter air cleaner

Any air cleaner under 14X3 should work just fine. I like my Edelbrock TBI STB a lot.

Just a thought... is that third mounting point sturdy? It looks like it's bolted into the lip of some sheet metal; I can't really tell. Has it ever cracked a windshield near that third mounting point?

Look at how the windsheild is attached, I don't think it could crack it. That metal is also a little more sturdy then you would think.

I know I've heard somewhere that STBs with three points can crack a windshield. Maybe not on our cars then...

You are thinking about 4th gens. You won't find many 3pts there. The firewall is not quite as strong as ours. They made the frame a bit different to make that spot not absorb so much torsional loading like it does on a 3rd gen.
