the crossmember one is better, for sure. The trans mounted style is mounted the same as the stock one: on a flimsy rubber mount that is bolted to your transmission (not the transmission mount). the crossmember mounted one mounts on the crossmember (obviously). this is a very solid piece of steel bolted to the subframes of your car. much less deflection that way.
the crossmember one costs more because you are also paying for the crossmember that you need in order to mount the TA. Hope this helped

I have been giving this issue a lot of thought and have been wondering at what power level does the torque arm snapping the tail shaft off of the transmission become a reality. I have never personally seen it but my philosophy is that if you are already spending the 300 dollars spend the extra 80 for the complete package. There is no way to upgrade later without buying a new torque arm so I would go for x member mounted one. -John

i went to the crossmember style cause the driveshaft was flexing enough that the front u-joint was hitting the tunnel on the 1-2 shift.its a better setup

There is nothing really wrong with the tranny mounted TA. Some people are in the 10s and still using the stock TA. The crossmember mounted TA is prolly the toughest of the bunch. But it also reduces ground clearance since the xmember sits lower and may transmit more road noise. There are plenty of 3rd gens running tranny mount TAs without a problem and winning trophies. IMHO, for an all out drag car, go with the xmember mounted TA. Tranny mount TA for the street or autox.

Its really very simple. It has an all stock front end with 6 cyl. springs from the junk yard and an old set of stock struts. In the rear it has a Moser 9in with a spool. Spohn LCA Relocation Brackets with Jegster LCAs. A weld in rear Anti Roll Bar from Wolfe race craft . Weld in Sub Frame Connecters and an 8 point Roll Bar. No Air Bags. And No After Market T/A.

Thanks for sharing your set up. After looking at the Anti Roll Bar from Wolfe Race Craft I am definately interested in it.

Rear gear is 4.72 and the tranny is a turbo 350. The Anti Roll Bar was by far the best money spent. It got rid of all the body roll.
